I was finally able to add my card to the Sense 2 about 3 weeks ago and have been using it for purchases since then so I thought the problem was fixed by app update, I haven't done a watch update since then unless it can update without my knowledge. The card is from USAA.

My complaint now is that purchases with the Fitbit don't show or seem to go through Google Pay\Wallet and they can't be seen there, I can only see them in my bank app so if I were a part of any promotions in Google Pay I wouldn't be getting credit for the purchase. My fear is that Fitbit is just passing my credit card info to the merchant instead of a token or fake card info so if there is a merchant hack then my real card info will be compromised. I was somewhat stranded overseas because of the Target hack around 2013 which compromised my card and thus my bank shut it off and then the post office kept forwarding my replacement cards back and forth across the world for a few months until I figured out what the issue was. Since then I've used Google Pay as much as possible to protect my card info and it would be great if Fitbit would play nicely with it since they are the family now.

I just looked in the Fitbit app and it is using a fake cc number so that's one less thing to worry about, but I would still prefer that the watch be linked to Google Pay and use the same fake card numbers that Google uses so the purchases are all arranged neatly in the app under the correct cards.

@NottaName that is interesting. I wonder how Google do it on the Pixel Watch. If I were designing it I would would have used Google Wallet on the phone and just interfaced with it from the Fitbit watch. Much easier and would not require Fitbit to interface with the banks and provide transaction details.

I have just checked the list of approved banks in the UK and they have just taken off it Lloyds Bank, the second largest. This is terrible support from Fitbit.

They promise a few then withdraw it because they can't fix it!!!!!

@infinidim I hear you. It's worse for me, my bank is still on the list but it doesn't work.

@asiayeah I also have one on the list, Jaja which have now decided to withdraw from the credit card market. It has never worked anyway.

Did you try initiate the google pay through the device/watch not your phone first?

Best Answer

Yes I tried that. The issue appears to be between the phone app and the bank. Most times the banks sends back the terms and conditions which I accept, which I am certain that the bank gets back. Then when the bank send the final confirmation / token to actually set the card up in the Sense 2 it all falls apart and sends a message to the app that the card can't be setup for some reason.

That's my thoughts anyway.

Moderators how about coming onto the community / topic and giving us some insight into what is going on.

I only have experience with the Sense 2 so based on that... If a person tries to add wallet through the watch it automatically opens the Fitbit app on the phone and they have to add cards there. I think it gives the cards already in Google Wallet as the options to add to the phone instead of making them add cards specifically in the Fitbit app. They will select the card that they want to add to the watch, go through confirmation screens and then send it to the watch with a new fake card number instead of just using the fake numbers that Wallet already uses, so the number in Fitbit doesn't match the number in Wallet and none of the watch transactions show in Wallet. Even more annoying, there is a card activity option in the Fitbit app that tells me there is no activity for my cards even though I have used them several times with my watch. I would like to have the watch just be a passthrough device for cards as they are shown in Wallet so all of my purchase activity is shown in one place and I can participate in Wallet promotions with all of my purchases.

Hello I'm unable to link my Google pay to fitbit, can anyone suggest help.

I'm from the UK

When I try to link I get this message.

My device is on my wrist. So I'd say close enough.

I've tried force stopping the app,

Rebooted my sense 2

Factory restart my sense 2.

Reinstalled app

Still no use...

Hi and welcome, @Mindrust !

Have you checked your credit card to see if it's supported ?

Yes, it's on the approved list.

I have the same problem. The approved lists TSB as approved but in Ireland they are know as "Permenant TSB" so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm using TSB. It's on the list and my Google wallet outside of fitbit works fine.

The fitbit app just doesn't want to play ball...

Let me escalate this internally, as I am having a similar issue.

Just tried again and still no luck. Keeps saying cannot sync move your Sense 2 closer. I have my watch right beside the phone. Support was no help.

I've had no luck either. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's something forum members can help with and will be something Fitbit will have to sort out.

Trying to setup Google Wallet on the Sense 2 is completely broken now with the latest version of the Fitbit app 3.79 on the UK. This is rubbish!!

Best Answer

That means whatever the update they promissed to fix in 3.79 was all a hoax. There was never any fix coming in the update.

Yes. I gave up a while back even thinking about Google Wallet on my Sense 2. When I saw that there had been some new posts on this page I thought that, since it has been a while, I'd check to see if has been fixed.

Instead of a fix, I see that Google Wallet on my Sense 2 is now officially worse than before. When I tap on the Google Wallet tile in the app on my phone, I find that it won't even open at all. The screen goes dark for a second or two and then it returns to the page with the tiles. Prior to this change I could at least open the Google Wallet tile and pretend that I was actually adding a card.

I'll now return to giving up on Google Wallet on the Sense 2.

Out of curiosity, what about trying to add cards to the Fitbit app on a second phone?
