Sense 2 Firmware Update 194.61

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

7/13 Update: We’re continuing to roll out this firmware for the Sense 2 Firmware Update 194.61, and expect more customers are able to update their devices. This is a progressive rollout and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We release updates in phases so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 194.61 for Sense 2 will be available soon! Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!

We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

@LizzyFitbit can you come onto the forum to give us an update with regards to this firmware update please.

It's been 3 months since I purchased my Sense 2. I don't want the updated version 194 as if you read the comments from other users, you'll just wish you hadn't. They focused on the new app update which needs some fixing. For example, no more battery % is an important feature they conveniently removed from the app update earlier this week. Maybe some input from actual user would be helpful when making these types of decisions since the users are wearing them.

@SunsetRunner bought mine also at mediamarkt in the Netherlands. I think firmware has been halted for everyone within this channel due to the bad experiences and messed up things happening. So I would really halt on the update if I was you and as everyone has already been saying within this post that its not even worth it right now.

@1GinnyME1 worst update since I started using FB and I started small I had have different sizes of Fitbit and I think this is my fifth one and never have I had problems with firmware but this one made me really think about going to a different brand because I still can't believe that FB made a firmware to improve things and it hasn't improved nothing for me but only made it worst. Word of advice to people of you get to update just DONT!

@SunsetRunner Fitbit hasn't said anything (they never do), but I think it is safe to say the update is pulled. I have always got firmware updates between 1-7 days from release date. We should probably be glad we haven't got it. It has caused severe trouble for some users.

@LokeAa Agreed, things could be a lot worse if the update was rolled out in mass to everyone.  Ironically, my older Fitbit devices (Blaze and Surge) are still trucking along after years and never needed an update.

As reported over and over, the new app does not let you edit incorrectly "auto detected" activities. That used to be a critical feature on the old app. When you do hit the edit pencil it opens to a screen that looks like it might let you edit. You can edit everything but the activity.

Really strange and a really simple thing to correct. Yet it is crickets from Fitbit.

For example, I go to sleep at 1 am. I get to use the restroom at 5 am. That's when it starts tracking my sleep. I put a camera in my room so I can track myself when I go to get to bed, when I get up to let the dog out, go to the bathroom etc. It should work correctly & as intended.

I know, but the stresstile is not working since the beginning, and the update helped someone else to fix this issue. How am I supposed to fix that if nothing else works?

I know all about Fitbit's sleep tracking capabilities. And that is a main reason why I won't switch my Fitbit out for another brand. I have years of data saved that I can compare with previous years and help make adjustments in my life regarding sleep habits, and other physical activities that are tracked. For example, when I get over about 13,000 steps or over 30 active minutes in a day I NEED TO slow down the next couple of days. Stringing a bunch of over-active days together gets me run down and far more susceptible to getting a cold. Same with a bad sleep night. I KNOW to focus way more on a good nap or the next night's sleep when that happens. And Fitbit tells me that even when I might not quite feel it yet.

Fitbit sometimes does miss some sleep times, as mentioned. Especially because I always wake up at least once every night and sometimes twice now. But one thing I always do nowadays is edit my sleep times the next morning. I'll also combine broken up sleep times which it lets you do but will not give you credit if walking or moving around. I do feel like Fitbit robs me of countable time just because I roll over, even if I'm not awake. I don't like that. So by adding 15 or so minutes to both of my automated sleep times (start and end) I get some of that back. And if it occasionally misses a sleep time by a couple hours, as Ginny mentioned, just edit it back where it's supposed to be and Fitbit will count it based on other data like lower heart rate and wrist movements being down.

Overall Fitbit sleep times are for the most part consistent and accurate.

That said, when the new update rolled out everything was affected. And when no heart rate data collected because the update was flawed, which happened often, sleep info along with resting HR data was also affected. Which is what brought me here.

Vinny,

Some Mod actually sent me directions on how to use the sleep section of the app, like I haven't been a Fitbit user since March 2014. They really need to stop messenging up what isn't broken.

Finally got my FB back working. There is one post showed how to actually do a different restart process that i followed that gave me back the ability to get a display screen once again.

To perform the factory reset please do as follows.:

Hold the back button for about 8 seconds.
When the Fitbit logo disappears:
Release the button briefly (for less than 2 seconds).
Hold the button again until you feel a second, longer vibration, which indicates they initiated the factory reset.

My current version after properly getting it back working now is: 60.20001.184.52. the only thing i could say is PLEASE FB don't mess it up one more time.

We do not know. No one knows. The update is coming on a boat from the USA to the rest of the world. It takes time.

Update was installed and now my Fitbit Sense does not work. Logo screen was flashing on and off for about 10 min then went blank. Have tried to reset but nothing is working.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

@Weimer please check what i have posted earlier on how to reset it.

If done correctly you will not see it flashing but you will get a Fitbit logo with a progress bar below it.

Try it, do the following:

Hold the back button for about 8 seconds.
When the Fitbit logo disappears:

I think this thread will never Die, my FB lived shortly, now the screen stays black, it tried to update without my consent or at least try to install something without my consent.

Now my FB will charges(i think) because when i attach the charging cable it vibrates, but i don't see any FB logo or progress and once again i am not getting any screen or display to see.

It's also not syncing to my phone, therefore i think something is wrong once again with my FB.

What can i say, i am really at the point of no returns to FB and i think this will be my last fitbit.

Try performing a reset to factory settings. That is what I did, then I never applied the update. My fitbit has worked without issue since the factory reset.

@evilmikez i will try when it gives me a display to do so.

Actually i already performed a factory reset. Once again i will be reverting to my fitbit versa, because at least it still works but gotta recharge it every single day.

Will post an update when it actually reacts one more time.
