Distance goal tracking as kilometers instead of miles

ANSWERED

After digging through the Fitbit community website it appears this isn't a new issue but since all other examples I could find (i.e. Previous Thread on Issue with Flex and App) were from other trackers and earlier app versions I wanted to add here since it was showing incorrectly on my Sense also. After three days of using my Sense my distance app on the Today tile started tracking as if my 6 mile distance goal was 9.656 miles (6 miles=9.656 kilometers). When you click into the app view specific for distance the goal line on the graph shows correctly at 6 miles. This discrepancy also shows on my Sense goals. I used the work around mentioned in the link reference previously where I made my goal 3.72 miles (3.72 miles=6 kilometers) so all of my goals would show as complete at the correct level of activity. This seems like it could be a simple fix but since it seems to have persisted across multiple trackers I assume it is a bug in the app. Let me know if there is any other info I could share to help resolve this issue for myself and others.

I have figured it out!!! It's been driving me nuts since I got my brand new Sense yesterday. My phone app says my distance goal is 5 miles, but it's showing up on my Sense as 8.04 miles (5 miles = 8.04 km). Log into your Fitbit account on a computer, NOT the app. Change your distance goal in your dashboard on the computer. On the app mine was at 5 miles, on the computer dashboard it said 8.04 miles. Now mine is saying 5 miles is my goal on my Sense. FINALLY.

Hi @SunsetRunner. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for letting me know that the Fitbit app shows the incorrect unit for your distance goal, as well for taking the time to check the Community Forums. I'm sorry you're going through this situation and to work on this together, may I know if the Fitbit app is updated? Does the same happen when going to the fitbit.com dashboard? Even though you've tried some steps on your own, have you double checked if the Fitbit app shows the correct units under Length?

To further investigate, please provide me with the model and OS/software version of your phone. Also, take a screenshot of the discrepancy displayed on the Today screen of the Fitbit app and attach it in your reply.

I'll look forward to your response.

Hi @LizzyFitbit, sorry it has taken me a couple days to respond. I double checked and it appears I have the most up to date version of the Fitbit App and Sense Firmware (details below). I have also attached the various screenshots where the issue can be seen. Just as a reminder everything seems to be correct in the desktop dashboard and the discrepancy is more related to the app and the Sense tracker itself. Let me know if you have any other

questions or need anything else. Thank you for working diligently to get this resolved!

Good evening @LizzyFitbit, just wanted to follow up on this request and see if you had any updates on this issue. I've been keeping the app updated and the issue hasn't resolved itself yet.

I am having this same issue with my sense on a Samsung note 9. Did you ever get a solution?

Best Answer

Unfortunately not, I have a reminder set on my calendar to follow up on with @LizzyFitbit this week. Hopefully she will see this and can get us an update on where they stand on resolving this issue.

It's a rather unpleasant bug. I've employed the workaround for now but
hopefully one of us gets a real solution soon. I'll keep this thread up
today if I get anything. If you could do the same I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Hey @LizzyFitbit any update on this bug? Had another issue pop up with floor counting on my tracker and wanted to check on the status of this request also.

This issue is still happening months later. Is this glaring defect ever going to be fixed?

I too have an issue with the floor counter in addition to the mileage tracking. The work around still doesn't help my situation. This is super frustrating that the app seems to be getting worse instead of better. Hope there is some actual resolution in the near future.

I have a brand new Sense and am having the same distance tracking issues. The details screen is correctly showing the distance and goal line and start when appropriate. However, the dashboard and watch face are both tracking the goals as km not miles.

This issue seems like it has been around for a long time. Is this going to be fixed?

Any updates or suggestions? I have the same issue, have reached out many times, no solution. After trying every option available, it was suggested I replace my charge 4. I bought a brand new versa and same issue. It is clearly an app issue, not a device. Miles convert to km, steps off with miles, app different than dashboard....it is so annoying and makes the point of purchasing a fitbit pointless. Just bought a new one for the same issues. How long until this is addressed?

I am having this issue as well. My daily goal is 5 miles, but the Sense is telling me my goal is 8.04 miles (5 miles is 8.04 km). It appears this is a known bug. How can it be fixed?

Hello, it has been over a year since this message and it has not been fixed.  I'm experiencing this issue with the dashboard with a brand new Charge 4.

As Cheziem has stated if you change the distance goal in on the Fitbit webpage that then syncs and fixes it on the phone and watch. I did this and now mine is working correctly.   Simply enter your goal miles into the webpage settings and then it will be fixed in the app/dashboard/watch.
