GPS on my Ionic is bad. I have a phone and Ionic track my run. When the phone tracks 3.12 miles, Ionic only tracks anywhere between 2.75 and 2.85 miles.

Having used Ionic, Versa and Versa 2, how is your experience with GPS on these watches?

The Versa 3 doesn’t have the built in GPS does it? I thought it only used your phone’s GPS. I thought the Ionic and Sense were the the only (similar) devices that have that. I own the Ionic and was waiting for an upgrade that included being water resistant and built in GPS.

I assumed the Ionic clock faces wouldn’t work with the Sense interface. I have one that I really like and hate to give it up. I assume third party clock faces will increase but was concerned with finding one that has everything I want in it this early after the initial watch release.

Yes! I see all kinds of Sense vs, Versa reviews. I want a Sense vs. Ionic review. I, unlike most people I am reading about, prefer the look of the Versa. I think it is a bit smaller and more feminine and I have small wrists (even for a girl) so the Versa just looks less chunky on me. But I want the core functions of the Ionic and have chosen to stay with it through all the variations of the Versa. I want a side by side comparison before I drop the $300+ on the new Sense.

Sense has severe heart rate tracking issues during exercise. Unusable in my opinion. Mine is going back, and I’m back in the market. I would stay far away from the sense, at least for now.

I was really hoping for an Ionic 2 with all the features of the Sense but with the signature Ionic look --- maybe Ionic gen2 would have some slightly refined edges and color but still retain its masculine look and rugged feel. The Sense which is closest to the Ionic in features, is feminine looking for a guy. I get that technology is rapidly evolving and they need the change things up but I just feel like anytime I get a device that the manufacture is finally worked out all the kinks through a punishing series of upgrades, and I know how to get the most out of it, they throw the whole thing out, and ask you to pay more money for an entirely new setup, so we can all be paying, perpetual beta testers. And when you get used to an entire fitness ecosystem/platform, they pull that out from under you too, like when I was completely happy with the a_didas m_icoach hardware and brilliant heart-rate real-time coaching platform.

The Versa 3, like the ionic, as requested by Fitbit users has a built in GPS, there is no option to use the phones Bluetooth.
As For clock faces. They may or may not have the same faces, Each ionic face will need to be modified by the developer. How fast, or how interested will the developer act on this?
Of course you always have the option to write you own face, or get together with a developer to design your own face.

@Denitra since the ionic was retired when the Sense was released, this would be like writing a review between a 2021 mustang and a 2015 mustang, there is so much difference, can the two be compared.

Bought the Sense. Don’t care for it.

Wrong. It’s like comparing the 2021 to the 1965 Mustang.....

I prefer the look of the Sense. That was the only thing about the Ionic I didn’t like. Of course, I’m a girl with tiny wrists... :-). The Ionic is actually water proof. I took it swimming every summer the entire time I used it, with no issues. I was actually concerned the Sense may not be as sturdy as the Ionic in that regard. I prefer the actual button of the Ionic. I did pause a few exercises if my wrist was turned a certain way, but the button on the Sense is awkward and hard to press. Plus, the clock face doesn’t come on with the flip of the wrist. I find I have to shake my hand around, and even then it doesn’t always come on. I will keep using it and hope I get used to it and they will eventually fix all the glitches, but many times I have contemplated retrieving my Ionic from my bedside table and tossing my Sense.
Also, forgot to mention, my SpO2 doesn’t even read so couldn’t even tell you if it’s accurate or not...
