So it looks like we wont be getting a new Ionic that I love but I need a new smartwatch with GPS and what should I pick.
I want everything the Ionic can do ...
how would you compare the 2 watches ...

Hi @gibbyhome, great to see you in the community.
In my opinion the Sense is far superior to the Ionic, even the Versa 3 would be an upgrade from the aging Ionic.
What is it you are looking for from a device? And what features are important to you? The Sense does everything the Ionic does plus more. I would direct you to the compare page here but it appears the Ionic has been removed, you can still choose Sense to see the list of features though.

AS @N8teGee mentioned, the Sense does everything the Ionic does. I actually prefer it to the Ionic because not only does it offer more features, but the Ionic to me, is a little clunky.

GPS for running and accuracy which the ionic has great accuracy with gps and heart rate.
I could go to the gym, run on the treadmill and grab the heart rate sensors and it would be almost exact..
battery life is important.
NFC and getting my Spotify play list on my watch so I don’t need to carry the surface duo on my runs
that is really all in need 😍

It seems the Sense and Versa 3 do all of the above, apart from storing offline Spotify playlists on the device.

I like the look and feel of the ionic, I think the versa looks to much like every other smart watch.
But I will switch to upgrade

My only question about the Sense is does it allow me to store my MP3 files on it and play them as I do my Run or Bike ride. I don't want to have to carry a phone with me while I exercise. If the Sense can't store music files then it really is not far superior to the Ionic.

I much prefer the look of the Versa family of devices, having owned Ionic, Versa and Versa 2. I really like the look of the Sense and look forward to using it. Obviously it's all subjective though, and I accept others like yourself prefer the style of the Ionic.

@gibbyhome sense is a health device with brand new EDA sensor and upgrade to HR sensor. This allows for EDA readings , HRV readings, SPO2 and so on. The data obtained from these sensors powers the information that cannot be available on ionic, like AFib, stress and so on. Worth mentioning is these have been FDA approved.

@gibbyhome You already have a Surface Duo!? Sadly there is no offline Spotify still. This is rather disappointing.

I've pre-ordered the Sense, but with ECG, I've not decided all these watches with it are good or bad, I feel it encourges hypercondria, and people looking for issues, it could cause stress rather then resolve!

When you look at all the features of the Sense, it lists, the "Music Experience" feature that stores music. My guess is that it will have the same storage as the other devices. But it is just a guess.

This is from the Fitbit.com Sense spec list. Music storage is only for offline playlists with Deezer and Pandora. There is no mention of mp3 storage. Since Fitbit is not supporting PCs for the newest devices, I don’t know how you would even transfer music files without the PC support. I am confident that music storage of mp3s is not supported.

@Heather-S @Lasertop I stand corrected. We will know for sure when the manuals are released and we can read the details.

LOL,
I was hoping someone was going to catch that .. pre ordered..not yet but I will have it before the watch comes out.
Not sure I will like it. I'm a security buff and Google is the opposite of security.
I'm going to look into deeser I think it is. I'm a Spotify person and I don't know why we can't get this working on the Fitbit to go fully offline with Spotify

FYI,
I contacted FITBIT support yesterday and asked about how much storage the sense and versa 3 had before I purchase. the tech could not tell me and he asked a second level tech. he also said there is no documentation on that ..
They did say the device has storage because it has to handle the OS and other things but that did not answer my question on storage for mp3's or transferring music

It's been my experience that when a product doesn't have something they don't bother to mention that it is not there or no longer there. I hope I am wrong and they have set aside some room on the device for music storage but I'm not terribly hopeful.
