SpO2 not working on Fitbit Sense - no data on Clockface and no data on Health Report

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hopefully this problem can be solved:

I replaced my Fitbit Ionic by a Fitbit Sense. No it turns out that the Fitbit Sense keeps on showing "No data" in the Fitbit Health Metrics tile as well as the SpO2 Clock face.

This is really bad since the Ionic did show data both on the clock face as the Health metrics.

The weird especially weird since the "Estimated Oxygen Variation" in my sleep report works fine.

I am using the Fitbit Premium service

Any idea how this issue can be solved?

Hi LHMoore

I have the SpO2 app installed, and I get readings every day. Problem is that the measured SpO2 is always four to five percentual points below the readings I get from a professional oxymeter. Sense tells me my SpO2 is always between 92% to 94%, which are rather bad values and should be reason to concern about, but in fact my values are normally between 96% to 97%, these being in the normal range for my age. I tried using the Sense during sleep in both arms, tried more close to the wrist and more up in the arm, but the result does not change and is always three to four points below reality. It's about this difference that I think Fitbit should elaborate, for instance maybe the reading in the wrist is not supoosed to be as high as the one you get when you measure with an oxymeter in your finger? They should give some explanation!

I had a Versa 2 that recently malfunctioned. I used an SpO2 clock watch on the Versa 2 that was pretty accurate (within 1-2%) I used it, along with my pulse oximeter, during my 2 1/2 month bout of COVID-19. I’m not sure why the SpO2 app isn’t working with the supposed upgrade Fitbit Sense. Fitbit is losing my confidence and I’m about to send this Sense back and get an Apple Watch! It’ll fit right in with all my other Apple products. If I do so, I’m pretty confident that the problems and headaches I’ve experienced with Fitbit will be immediately solved.

I just want to note on the Sense, Versa, and Ionic Series in order to capture SP02 data you must use either an SP02 Clock Face OR the SP02 tracker app, Not both.

This means if your using any of the SP02 Clock faces you must uninstall the SP02 Tracker app.

If your not using any of the SP02 Clock Faces you must install the SP02 Tracker app

You must use one or the other buy not both. This is mentioned in the official Fitbit help files concerning SP02

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2459.htm

Most folks having issues with SP02 readings are using an SP02 Clock Face and have the SP02 Tracker app installed which causes a conflict. Either use an SP02 Clock face without the SP02 Tracker app installed, or use the SP02 Tracker app installed with a non-SP02 Clock face and things shoul;d start working again in a day or two.

Frankly I have owned my sense since April and I am about fed up with Fitbit's actual handling of the situation and it's PISS POOR!

Morning Bertux60,  Not sure if the following Excerpt from the Fitbit "Charge 4" Manual will pertain to your situation or not...

What should I know about SpO2 values?

"SpO2 values naturally vary, and nighttime SpO2 is usually lower than daytime SpO2 due to the fact that your breathing rate is usually slower during sleep. In general, SpO2 values during sleep are typically above 90%. The SpO2 values presented are an estimate and in general can be influenced by your activity, altitude, and overall health."

Basically, when researching articles about "spO2 Levels" during the daytime vs. sleeping, they state that your "Resting/Sleeping spO2" Levels are approximately 3% to 6% lower than your normal Daytime/Waking Hours of spO2... Typically your Heart-Rate is lower and your breathing rate is slower when sleeping, hence your spO2 readings are lower as well... Again, not sure if you are measuring your O2 Levels only at Night, (as you did mention using the Fitbit Sense during Sleep on both Arms), which is what my Fitbit Charge 4 is capable of doing... But, I believe that if you install the "spO2" Clock-Face on the "Fitbit-Sense", then it can measure spO2 during the day as well; in which case, the lower numbers compared to a professional Oxymeter may be concerning.. Hoping that your Measurements with the "Fitbit Sense" were from Sleeping Hours and Not from Waking Hours...

-----------

Excellent Info/Insight regarding the possible Conflict with the spO2 Clock Face and "spO2 Tracker Mini-App" withing the Fitbit-App... Another possibility for lack of spO2 Data, (at least on the Fitbit Charge 4), is that the "spO2 Tracker Mini-App" may need to be upgraded within the Fitbit-App... Just recently, my "Health Metrics" on my Fitbit Charge 4 were capturing and displaying my Breathing-Rate, Heart-Rate-Variability, Skin-Temperature, etc; but stopped displaying my "Oxygen-Saturation" (SpO2)... Thinking that I had my "Charge-4" was positioned incorrectly, or too tight on my wrist, I tried different locations on the "Inside/Palm-Side" and Outside of my wrist, to No Avail.. My wife's "Fitbit-Charge-4" was Not having any issues with her SpO2 Readings.. We both had the same Model Fitbit-Cahrge-4 and same Model of Samsung Galaxy Smart-Phones... However, when I examined all of the Settings and Mini-Apps within the "Fitbit-App" on our Smart-Phones, my SpO2 "Mini-App" had an "Upgrade" Button along with the "Uninstall" Button... However, my wife's SpO2 "Mini-App" only had the "Unistall" Button displayed; and again, her SpO2 was still working.. Well, I clicked the Upgrade Button in the SpO2 Mini-App, and sure enough, when I wore the Charge-4 to bed that evening, my SpO2 Readings were displayed the following Day..

I still do Not know why, when the Fitbit App on my Samsung phone (which was upgraded in May of 2021) did Not update the "SpO2 Mini-App", whereas on my Wife's Samsung phone the Fitbit App was updated in May as well; and it would appear that the "SpO2 Mini-App" also updated..

Doesn't help if the device isn't reporting SPO2 at all.

1.5 years later and still not fixed

Best Answer

Mine hasn't worked since I bought it on Black Monday, unless you count once every two weeks, if I am lucky. I have done all the trouble sitting over and over, spoken with support and want a new phone or a replacement. And will tell my cardiologist who suggested this watch that it doesn't work and fitbit has no plans to fix it. He needs to recommend a different watch with better support and I will start writing bad reviews everywhere. This has been going on for the entire time the phone has been out. Not a problem that's ever going away. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I always have the SPO2 clock face on with no different outcome. No data, but two days ago started telling m to download the fitbit Spo2 app and clock face.  It hasn't given me that msg in months.  I have done everything in trouble shooting numerous times including resetting it with CS watching on screen and it still did not work. I need this for my health. Will tell my cardiology group not to recommend fitbit any more and whatever more can be done on my part for a new Sense or a refund to buy something that works for my health.

Forgot to add that under sleep, the O2 variation records, when my watch can figure out how to add fractionated sleep together, which it used to do and now can't do that either.

That is crazy! Mine is working for now only missing intermittent days.
Sadly most of my family and friends have left fitbit. A few have left
because of the short lifespan of their device. Luckily, that has not been
my issue. But sadly the community of friends and family is what attracted
me. Fitbit is definitely losing it's luster for me.

Didn't work for me. It has worked only one out of three nights (night 2 of 3 with no changes, correct watch face and app installed). Really frustrating. See my post "just got a Sense not I g works" to see all of the issues I've had with it already. I'm not alone. A lot of the problems are posted on these forums from release of the sense and nothing has improved or been fixed. Disgraceful of fitbit.

I replaced my Charge 4 with Sence. I am very disappointed that Sp02 does not consistently provide data, randomly at best. All other health metrics work fine. This is definitely an issue that Fitbit needs to address sooner than later. I would never pay for premium!

this is frustrating - I had a charge 4 and it worked fine for years - "upgraded" to the sense and now I cannot get the SPO2 data - tried all the suggestions here...

It says that it could take 30 days to get enough data for all of this. Mine started reporting after a couple of weeks. I have had mine for almost 2 months and have used the clock face and made sure I have my sense on sleeping and for the last 3 nights, it says it can get no data.  Something is off.

If I get up and get moving pretty vigorously, it updates and sorts itself out.  If I don't, shutting down my Sense after a sync and then powering it back up will fix it, though that's definitely something I shouldn't be having to do.  Sometimes I'm having to shut it down every morning which is a pain.  I'm hoping it'll be fixed with an update soon.  However, for me it's not severe enough of a problem for me to consider returning the watch.

Hi,

I still have the same issue on the newest Sense version, and I can see that this problem started 2 years ago. So I’m wondering if this bug was fixed in the meantime or i still have to get a particular clock face in order to see my oxygen data in health metrics? I don’t know how to tag the moderator in this post? 🙂 Thank you all!

This problem has been ongoing since fitbit came out with the Spo2 software. I bought it for the Spo2 function and it works about once every nine days, which is pretty useless. I consider it an overpriced watch and am saving my money to buy something that works as expected. This time I won't be reading Amazon or best buy reviews as over 2000+ reviews never bought it up. I will read the community forums like this one for the real good and esp bad issues with the watch I want to buy. Fitbit support is essentially non-existent. They refer you to steps to take and I don't know if they are posted in this thread, because after too many complaints they close a thread and say the issue is resolved, if they give a reason at all.

Hi Linda,

Thank you for your reply!

No i don’t, I don’t like it and I would like to use this feature normally like all others, w/o preconditions. Someone suggested to download some app, I will try that. But regardless, pretty disappointed that this issue is not fixed for 2 years now…

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!
I’m so sad to hear this…. This is really frustrating and disappointing. I don’t know how to get attention here from someone from customer support and to see their response…

I hear you. My battery life became very short and I ended up switching to
Samsung Galaxy. So far very pleased. Good luck on your quest. My husband
is still using his Sense. If you are lucky enough to find a work around, I
would love to hear about it.
