While walking the Camino trek last week using my GPS my Fitbit surge died after 16.6 miles into an 18 mile walk. I had charged it every night. This was most disappointing as I specifically wanted to get a full map of the route at then end of the days walk. I purposely bought the most expensive Fitbit available at the time for the built in GPS. This was a replacement too as the original stopped working last year

Very frustrating Wendy. I like the built in GPS option a lot as I’m a walker and like being able to track miles walked in real time.

The battery life on the Surge while using while using GPS is only advertised as 5 to 10 hours. About all you can do is carry a battery pack to recharge it during the day.

Hi @WendyB and @Gershon, Hope you're doing great! Thanks for joining us to this family, hope you like what find here @anncjones!
Sorry about your Surge when walking the Camino Trek, that a really nice place. I know how important is to have all features working for this important events. Have you tried restating the Surge a couple of times would be a good idea. How old is your Surge? Clean the charging contacts on the back of your Surge. These contacts can become obstructed by microscopic dirt or debris that prevents them from making a good connection to the charger. Use a toothpick or toothbrush to clean the charging contacts; do not scrape them with anything metal because this may damage the plating and result in corrosion.
Check the tips to improve the battery life of your Surge. As @Gershon mentioned, If you aren’t tracking runs or exercises that use GPS, the battery in Fitbit Surge should last up to 7 days. A fully charged Surge can track up to 10 hours of activities that use GPS. Because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary.
We also recommend plugging your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or other low-energy device. If necessary, you can use a UL-certified USB wall charger. Don't use a USB hub or battery pack to charge, and only use the charging cable that came with your tracker. I'd like to know if you're getting the full battery sign after charging your Surge for 3 hours. Have you noticed if your charger is loose or maybe not connecting properly? How are you changing your Surge?
I'll be around!

Thanks for confirming this information @anncjones.
It looks like it's missing some hours when tracking activities with the GPS feature, same thing with the amount of days it last throughout the week. If you're using most of the tips to improve the battery life of your Surge, and it is not working, we might have to check with our support team to see what is the next step. I can request a case on your behalf if you wish.
Keep me posted.
