I assume I must have something set wrong here, but I can't for the life of me seem to figure it out.
I have my Alta HR linked to MyFitnessPal. On MyFitnessPal, my activity level is set to sedentiary, with a goal to lose 10kg. It gives me a daily allowance of 1500 with that in mind.
I set the same goal (lose 10kg) on my Alta HR.
Today my Alta says I've burned a total of 2800 calories. Of that, it credited 2,625 calories to MyFitnessPal as "exercise".
The Alta knows my base rate is around 1700, because that's what it set all the previous days to in my history before I bought it. So why would it think that adding 2,600 calories to my 1500 target is productive in any way? Surely at most it should be adding that minus my base rate, so about 900?
Has anyone else found a solution for this problem?

I have moved your post to this section of the boards as you are more likely to get answers here.

Just updating, I've set it up exactly following the steps in the sticky thread, but MFP still thinks, thanks to the Alta HR's dutiful reporting, that I should eat 4000 calories in my quest to shed weight today.
That's like, an athlete's diet. All I did was walk to and from the busstop and teach a few classes.

Hi there @ElliottM, it's good to see you again. Note that your tracker is not connected to your MFP account. Your tracker syncs with your Fitbit Dashboard and from here is share with MFP.
Note that your Fitbit tracker accounts almost half of your total calories from your BMR in addition to your exercise activity, even when you are not too active as you described in your post.
In your Fitbit account, the Food Plan's tools update based on your foods logged and activities recorded by your tracker. So the more you exercise throughout the day, the greater your calorie allowance will be.
If there is a calories fluctuation with MFP and Fitbit perhaps this post might give you directions to resolve your calories allowance. Also keep in mind that this integration with MFP is developed by the third party and we do not control how the information is exported or how is interpreted by MFP.
Hope this helps.
