We recently made some updates to the Withings scale integration that require reauthorization between Withings and Fitbit. If you are unable to sync your Withings scale with Fitbit, please unlink your account and set up again.

My Withings Body Scale stopped syncing to FitBit on April 15th.  Coincidentally, that was also the same day I activated a FitBit Inspire HR tracker.

Have tried logout/login, revoke access, clear cache/cookies, etc.  Still get error when attempting to link via https://www.fitbit.com/weight/withings

Anyone have a fix?

I'm in the same boat as everyone else, and I too am getting the new error message when I try to link my Withings account using the wizard. See below:

Unable to authenticate Withings user. Withings server returned the following error: Exception receiving access token

Getting this, trying to revoke access. Worked now i can't get access from fitbit. I can see fitbit on withings though.

I was advised by fitbit to remove linked Withings scale and when tryied to link it again got the same error:

Please review the following errors:
  • Unable to authenticate Withings user. Withings server returned the following error: Exception receiving access token

I did the same - I’m getting the same error. Last synced 4-14. So now I’m inputting manually - and I’m guessing this is probably a mistake because once it is fixed I’m guessing it will sync history and then I’ll have all the data twice...

Is there any sort of timeframe for when this should be fixed? I STILL cant link my withings and Fitbit. This issue is very frustrating!

Georgia try using IFTTT - it will sync your Aria scale with the Fitbit app every time you weigh yourself. Will be better when the problem is fixed but is easier than remembering to log manually. There are applets available already made to use.

I appreciate the suggestion but I didn't pay hundreds of dollars to program
something that should just work.

I dont have an aria scale I use a Nokia scale with health mate which logs it's just it's not syncing with Fitbit. But thank you for the response and yeah will be much easier when the problem is eventually sorted for good rather than just temporarily!

I appreciate that, but I'm sure they're not ignoring the issue. Connections between platforms are notoriously difficult so I was just trying to suggest a workaround to ease the frustration 🙂

IFTT works well to enter your weight automatically in your fitbit dashboard, and it is free of charge , no need to pay , for that, I use it currently untill the normal synchronization restart.

Sorry - what’s IFTT?

It’s an app (if this then that) that you give instructions to called applets - in this case just search “withings to Fitbit” and there are pre-configured applets. You just allow them access to your accounts and switch them on then they do all the magic in the background.

It's an app you can download for free. Try the search button in the apple
app store or Google play.

Thank you! I’ll try it out as a workaround until they get it fixed.

Hey @JustinFitbit  when are you fixing this issue? This is the second time your company breaks the sync this year.

And, no, I'm not willing to use IFTT as a workaround as some users suggested because I'm not about to give my sensitive data to a 3rd company that tells you "it's free!" while they turn around, package it, and sell it.

I'm getting the authentication token error as well. However, both Fitbit and Withings are synching just fine with LoseIt.

The same error has been showing up for me as well. I was able to unlink the Withings but when I went back to link it it gave me the error.
