Update 4/17/2019: We are aware that some people may not be able to set up and are working to fix the issue soon. Thanks to those who posted this error message. I'll update this thread when I hear the issue is resolved.

We recently made some updates to the Withings scale integration that require reauthorization between Withings and Fitbit. If you are unable to sync your Withings scale with Fitbit, please unlink your account and set up again.

" Our team is still looking into this issue"??? I don't understand that statement. Fitbit, by your own admission, YOU caused the problem... "We recently made some updates to the Withings scale integration that require reauthorization between Withings and Fitbit."

My Nokia/Withings scale communicated just fine SINCE 2017... until you, Fitbit,  made "some updates" on about April 14th....

Glad to see this thread. I've been pulling my hair out trying to use workarounds, forgetting & relinking accounts, etc.

I guess I'm free to go eat a big bowl of ice cream since it won't show up on my fitbit account for a while.

Please review the following errors:

  • Unable to authenticate Withings user. Withings server returned the following error: Exception receiving access token

I just created a new fitbit account and connected that to withings without problem.

What i have tested so far:

Old FitBit account connected to Old Withings account: Here is the starting point. Does not work

Old FitBit account connected to New Withings account: Does not work

New FitBit account connected to Old Withings account: it work.

Next ill try to migrate all my data from the old FitBit account to the new one. If that works this will be a acceptable solution working around fitbit's poor skills.

Best Answer

Please keep us posted, if you're able to migrate the data successfully I might try it myself.

As usual Fitbit response to issues with their apps/services is extremely poor, this reminded me that they have ignored for many years the issue with being unable to edit a workout session to fix an incorrect time start/end... YEARS waiting for some fix and being ignored. Honestly the only reason I still use a Fitbit is for the same reason I use services like WhatsApp, everyone else use it and I want to be able to socialize with others (in this case to compare my activity with family/friends)...

fitbit make nice watches, but their service is terrible. I am busy doing my own job atm, hopefully i can set some time aside for this later tonight. I am not fund of doing other peoples job, like here fitbit could easily just migrate our old accounts to new ones and this wouldnt be a problem. perhaps they dont have any database engineers and run everything out of the box

Best Answer

I don't believe there is a way to import old data from one account into a new account unfortunately Smiley Sad

And I forgot to say massive congratulations @DavidNilsson for achieving your goal weight as you said in your previous post! I'll have a celebration for you even if Fitbit doesn't join the party Smiley Very Happy

https://dev.fitbit.com/build/reference/web-api/basics/

there it says:

Fitbit provides a Web API for accessing data from Fitbit activity trackers, Aria & Aria 2 scales, and manually entered logs. Anyone can develop an application to access and modify a Fitbit user's data on their behalf, so long as it complies with Fitbit Platform Terms of Service.

so even thou fitbit does not have an import data feature, you can still do it, but you have to write some code first. but if someone had access to the backend system, this could be done for lots of users putting way less effort into this... hmm who could have that kind of access ?

best thing would be if fitbit just corrected this issue, here are some reading for you fitbit

Couldn’t agree more @DavidNilsson but those who aren’t coders would struggle a bit with that (which is why IFTTT is a good stop gap) and I wouldn’t want share anything I had written as I wouldn’t have the time to support anyone who used it. Fitbit get your **** together!!!

After being broken for two weeks, looks like it's working again!  I had previously unlinked my account to (unsuccessfully) relink it and have been attempting to relink every day since then.  Much to my amazement, today it worked!  FYI

Good luck and I hope it works for you!
