I have only had my zip for 1 day. Worked fine this morning, syncing with no problems. But tonight it won't sync saying it can't connect via Bluetooth. Everything is turned on, I've even installed app and reinstalled but with no success. Does the zip only sync at certain times of the day?

I don't actually understand why there isn't a "sync now" option on the dashboard. If you give a darn about users, let us use it, Fitbit. So far I love part of it and hate part of it and I've had it for 24 hours. I'd give it a "2 star" on Amazon as a review.
So, other than taking out and reinserting the battery, tapping it to wake it up, clicking in and out of the fitbit dashboard url and whatever else is on your "solution list" how about just making it not have a problem syncing. You put the responsibility on the user to "fix" a problem it shouldn't have. Not great customer awareness if you ask me.
Before I bought the Zip, I was aware of the syncing problem, but hoped I would be an exception. I'm NOT. I Bought the Zip, downloaded the dashboard and it synced perfectly the first time. Since then it wont sync. VERY frustrating and a completely useless program and something Fitbit has apparently been aware of for sometime now and either can't resolve it, or refuses to try.
Best AnswerWhere is the all day sync button?
Let me know when you find out. Mine last synced last night at 8:45 - it's 6:12 am here - so almost 10 hours. FitBit needs to work on their functionality.
It will sync eventually, just not when you want it to. It's frustrating.
Best AnswerWell I don't have Bluetooth and my phone (Galaxy 3) isn't new enough for the phone app to work. Everyone seems to complain about the syncing. If you google around, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of people who complain about the syncing. I think it's a problem in the actual device.
It's interesting, a year ago FitBit stock was $51 a share, now it's around $12. They say it's because there are more fitness trackers on the market but I think it's because FitBit has product flaws that are affecting their sales.
Best AnswerI see where others are following all the recommended steps and it is not working. I did the same and none of the recommendations work either. If you look at the ratings on the Win 10 fitbit app there are 1631 1 star ratings...horrible. But..I did move my zip close to the usb bluetooth receiver on my computer and it syncs almost all the time. My theory is the bluetooth broadcast is really weak and the signal detection algorythym's threshold is fairly high....meaning a weak signal = "no device found".

I've been having problems manually syncing my Zip also. This afternoon I was prompted to update my Fitbit Connect. I'm now running version 1.0.3.5512 That update seems to have fixed the manual syncing issue.
