Can blocked people tag me in comments and posts?

Hey there, I’m not new to the Fitbit app but was recently going through my friends list and blocking people who didn’t need to be on there. After blocking someone on Fitbit are they still able to mention you in posts and comments?

Hi @Randomwords. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for letting me know about your friends list and let me help you with your question. When a person is blocked, they'll be removed as a friend. Because you'll also not appear under their friend list, they won't be able to tag you, send a friend request or messages to you.

If you need anything else, let me know.

If you are blocked by someone you can't see their profile if I'm correct. Is it possible to be friends with someone and not be able to tag someone else to see the post? I've had this happen quite frequently of late and don't see anything about not allowing tagging on posts. Can you tell me where this function is at?

Hi there, @ALP1961.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. While I understand your concern, let me explain currently there isn't an option to manage who can or cannot tag you in a Community Feed post. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and my best advice is to share this idea in the Feature Suggestions board so our developers can take it into consideration to improve our features, as well as our services. To learn more about this board, see our FAQs.

I was talking about on the APP not in the forum. I swear sometimes you need
to pay attention to what WE the users are saying. I'm just about to leave
Fitbit because you care MORE about the SCAMMERS than Real customers who
actually pay for devices and actually use them on a Daily Basis. Tired of
the Bull**ahem** anymore

Lizzy,

You didn't answer my question. I was talking about the android app NOT the forum. I'm friends with someone and was trying to tag someone so they could see her post. I'm unable to tag anyone on her post and was asking if there is a reason for this? Is there a setting somewhere on the App that stops someone from tagging another person to see another person's post when you ARE friends with that person's post your trying to tag someone else to see. You get it now?

Hi there, @ALP1961.

Thanks for getting back with more details. Before anything else, let me clarify the Community Feed mentioned in my post is the one you find in the Fitbit app which allows you to share your stats, and join open groups. This one differs from the Community Forums which is only available via website. I'm sorry for any confusion this may have caused, and I appreciate your feedback.

About your question, may I know if the post you're referring to was shared in an open group? Let me explain that for open groups you can tag your friends, or any other person participating in the conversation even if they're not your friends. However, if the post is in a closed group, you'll only be able to tag the members from that group. To learn more about closed groups, see this help article.

The post was in a group called friends, to my knowledge that is an open
group. I don't see why that should stop tagging My friends to the post.
I've reported her as a spam account as no step counts, no activity of Any
kind and wanted my phone number to share photos and to leave Fitbit to
another app since I didn't give her my phone number. I'm not stupid but
your people since joining with Google care MORE about these people than
those of us who PAY for devices and use them on a daily basis. Don't give
me the understaffed bs either. It's been since Google got involved that
reporting goes pretty much unanswered and it's to the point I and many
others are ready to leave it all behind. Some of us are trying to be of
help and get punished for helping.

Hi there, @ALP1961.

Thanks for replying back with more details. While I appreciate your efforts while reporting that profile, I understand your concern and I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Fitbit is committed to continuously improving the safety and security of our community, and thoroughly investigates and takes action on all reported posts, comments, and profiles. As you did now, I'd encourage you to report any profile or contact that violates our guidelines so we can handle them accordingly.

In regards to your other question, I went ahead and I couldn't find an open group called friends. Let me clarify the open groups are the ones created by Fitbit, while the closed groups can be created by any team member. To confirm this, just open the Fitbit app, tap Community at the bottom > Groups. If by any chance the Friends group is under the Closed Groups section, that means you can only tag the participants in that group and you'll need to talk with the administrator in order to add more friends.

Friends is Not listed in my Closed groups. I in fact don't see friends
listed anywhere in Any of my groups open or closed.

As far as removing fake accounts you're failing badly ever since Google got
involved. Our reports USED to be taken Very serious and of late I and many
others have reported the same person for using stolen photos and trying to
take you out of Fitbit to scam you and that are STILL HERE. That used to be
taken seriously and these people were removed. Some have personal messaged
and tried to get information and that was a key to remove them yet NOW you
just let them continue. One in particular has it right on the profile
saying her messages don't work on Fitbit and posted her Google chat ID
there. That used to be grounds to remove someone, not anymore. It really
makes me feel like they have more rights than people who are here for the
Right reason, FITNESS.
Many of us are pissed about it and ready to leave. You say to not engage
them and just block them, that doesn't help others who may not know about
scammers on a fitness app and it's getting worse. If our reports keep
getting shelved when we have proven stolen military photos or models
pictures then you are no better than the scammers are and shows acceptance
of them being here. That's a shame that we can figure these people out and
you let them stay.
