Exercise days in iPhone app are being lost

Using iPhone app 4.23 (42343025) with Inspire 3 on 20001.210.26

Today when looking at exercise days for weeks or months the correct days will display momentarily and then many of them will disappear, showing fewer days as "exercise days". This is a new problem today.

When I try to see my exercise data in the app for last week it only shows Saturday as an exercise day but I walked 5 days last week and until today all the data was there and looked correct. Today the data shows no exercise for Sun-Fri in the weekly summary. Only Sat is considered to be an exercise day.

If I look at today and then go back by day to last Friday, I see correct steps at 17971, Zone Min at 198, Miles at 8.45, cal at 3368. But I DO NOT see the exercise I recorded listed in the bottom of the EXERCISE DAYS box where I walked for 2 hours. It is gone. I started the exercise as I always do by tapping the + sign, selecting walk, hearing progress notifications each mile, and ending the workout. Many of these workouts are now gone and those are the days with incorrect data in the week and month summaries and missing exercise data in the daily view.

I have reset the inspire 3 device from the clock face using settings and reset. I have synched the device. I have ended and restarted the application on the iPhone. I do not know if my app was at version 4.23 yesterday when all my data was showing up. It may have updated to 4.23 without me knowing. I know the iPhone updated to 17.6.1 last week.

How do I get the app to display all my hard earned data again?

Thank you

Well its now Tuesday so 3+ days since I was told it would be fixed 'hopefully' within 2-3 days. What do I see on the App Store? A new version 4.26 - apparently for bug fixes and performance improvements.  Not sure what they are as this version hasnt fixed the glaringly massive bug that is affecting all of us.

I'm going to chase again.

Chased support.

It hasnt been fixed - apparently its the engineering team's top priority.  Not able to give a resolution timescale.

I guess we wait.  In the meantime the Garmin and Polar websites look interesting ...

Ask questions about the product deficiencies at the Google Store. Ask if the newer versions of smartwatches have the same problem of not reporting their data on the app. i.e. seconds on exercise sessions, sleep graphs... Does the Fitbit Versa 4 behave like the Versa 2 and only give times in hours and minutes (no seconds)?

Wise to not hold your breath. Today is 9/19 and we're still wating.

Why do we have to chase support? A little PAYING customer support would be nice. How about this fro everyone: "I DEMAND a refund of my subscription payment for the time the app has been broken."

First week of September I was told this would be fixed September 10. It's now September 19 and so my Fitbit hasn't been any better than a basic pedometer for over two weeks now. After this week's app update I signed out, deleted the app, reset my watch, redownloaded the app, signed back in, set the watch back up, and still the same result: Exercises appear on the watch just fine, but the app doesn't save any of the info and when I go back into historical exercise data, the data will change as I'm looking at it right before it disappears. I just got into daily exercising a few months ago (I've been using a fitbit for a couple of years though) and so this is incredibly frustrating.

I agree it is frustrating…
I have issues when manually entering my exercises because the start tracking exercise option doesn’t allow for tracking a treadmill walk (apparently the walk option is relying on GPS, so nothing it tracked when I’m on a treadmill), and when I manually enter a treadmill log using a start time and a duration, the distance and calories seem way off… it’s just all jacked up… hope it gets fixed soon.

Have you tried starting your treadmill session from the fitbit device? I can swipe and start/end a treadmill session on my Inspire 3 but not in the app using the plus sign

Yes… of course. Except my Fitbit charge 6 is not synching my exercises to the App since early Sept… that’s what this whole thread is about… the work around we have to do to get our exercises logged/tracked because the app is having issues with the synching for the charge 6.

I’m having a similar issue with an Inspire 3 v.20001.210.26 and the iOS Fitbit app v.4.25.

Some (but not all) exercises I manually added (by clicking the “+ Add exercise” button on the app) have disappeared.

I’m also having a weird (probably related) issue where all the additional Exercise data in the app (Exercise Days, Duration, Distance, Time in Zones, Energy Burned) keeps changing/appearing-and-disappearing when I toggle between the “Week” and “Month” views. By clicking between screens in the following order (for example), this is how my data appears to change (but I haven’t logged or deleted any info):

But then if I toggle back to Month view after viewing other stats, my data’s changed again:

Yes… I am using the same versions on my charge 6 and the App… I’ve seen these versions in other posts describing this issue from early Sept. I also have seen the data looking different in week view and month view in the App… And, all of my data that had synched for the last week in August seems to have been lost (no matter which view I look at). Since then I have been manually entering my exercise data and that seems to be “holding” ok in the app, but it’s a strange and elusive problem for sure (just based on how long it is taking them to fix it).

Hi Lori - I started this thread to report that exercise history was disappearing in the app after an update in early Sept timeframe. This did not start as a thread about the inability to synch the app with a fitbit device. I think you might be having a different issue than what this thread is talking about. .

I've seen older posts where there is a multiple step procedure to fix synch problems.

Hope this helps...

Kim,

Good use of screenshots! I like how July 24 isn't an exercise day, then it is, then it isn't again!  That is just awesome and it might mean the data is in the database but they are just having trouble writing the code to extract it correctly every time. Thanks

Hi Lori

Are you able to start a treadmill session by swiping on your Charge 6? I can do that on my Inspire 3. It might be helpful to try that.

Maybe you are not having synch problems but just like the rest of us here, a problem of getting the app to correctly display the stored exercise data.

It appears this issue may now be fixed.  I can now see all the exercises I’ve logged via the Charge 6 since the issue started, and all my historical data is back (at least in the weekly view). There seems to be an inconsistency in the month view, but not sure if that was already there or not.

Yes - Thanks for the heads up

I am seeing the data again for the dates in the original post in this thread. I believe they are displaying the correct data again and they did not lose any data permanently but just misplaced it for a while and now it is back where it belongs, Thank you Fitbit application programmers!

My iPhone app is showing I am on Fitbit 4.25 (42514025) (app - gear - help - version) and on the device I am still showing Inspire 3 Version 20001.21.26 (app - % - device )  So I the app version must have updated.

I would say they fixed it in 22 days. I think we can close this thread!

@seaward, not ready to close the thread yet from my end. App on iPad still not reflecting my manually started and ended exercise sessions from today. I am on the latest version of the app - 4.26.
