Exercise detailed screen changed after update

I walk about 4-5 miles every day. The app always displayed a graph indicating time in each zone. I cannot post a picture of the graph because it is now missing from all my walks. The app has not updated, where did it go? I updated to charge 6 one month ago from charge 4, I noticed at that time the graphs were way out of whack from my charge 4 data with regards to time spent in each zone, previously most time was in fat burning zone, having reached it about 5 minutes into my walk. Now, sometimes, I skip fat burning entirely and seem to jump into max heart rate zone, which makes no sense as I only walking about 2 miles per hour.

The new ios mobile app has removed the basic average bpm and breakdown of heart zones durations for a workout. For an exercise like yoga, for example this is the bare data needed to assess a session’s intensity. Right now it only shows the workout duration… this is disappointing, especially when the previous app versions were ok. Why change?

I'm also very disappointed. I just cancelled my premium Fitbit subscription. I only subscribed because I enjoyed the data at my fingertips -- and now they've unceremoniously removed it with no comment. No thanks.

I agree!  Put he useful stuff back!

Has anyone heard anything from Google/Fitbit about fixing this? I can't believe, given this amount of feedback, that they are not working on addressing this ASAP. I don't know why someone from the product team is not replying in this forum...

Not heard anything, no new updates or news, gone back to 3.90 whilst waiting for a fix.  Could be a long wait…

Best Answer

How did you manage to get back to 3.90?

My guess: they figured they have given all this data and charts for free. Now they want to release a free version so poor that fitbit users would go for the premium version. Unfortunatelly at least i am not convinced to get a premium and pay for it. I believe many think the same way with me… right?

Free version should have basic stuf like the excercise charts and editing feature too. No point having a fitbit device otherwise.

I miss the old app workout details too. One of my favorite features that helped me track how well my workout stressed my heart. The new version is a poor update.

I have an iPhone and up until a week ago, I could find the graph of a workout digging around for a while, looking for the information from different angles, but I never could find it last week or this week so now it’s gone.  Looks like lots of people are missing it.  I’m a premium user so that’s not the problem. I hope it returns soon.

Agree, can’t see any of the breakdowns in exercise any longer. Was bad enough when the active zones changed but now this too. Very disappointed and not seeing the point in having it now…

Good to hear this!
So this data hiding applies to all fitbit apps, both free and premium versions. Yet another reason not to concider sticking to Fitbit. In fact I bougt i Garmin a month ago, but i am still wearing my fitbit, too, as i wish fitbit would come to it sences and bring the old display back.
Fitbit has a auto log- feature that i really like. Essy to use!

I agree. It was my favourite part of the app. It's do useful to see how your heart rate changes during exercise and now I can't see that information. Very annoying.

I still can’t believe the developers would remove integral features like this, it’s got to be a mistake…

If it isn’t, then we simply vote with our wallets and move to one of their competitor’s app + products.

It’s a shame if this is how Fitbit ends, I’ve had every Charge since the first version. I guess it’s time to look whether the competition can serve a basic feature like a line on a map when we go for a run!

After some experimenting it does seem to be a mistake by the developers.

The map info is there, follow these steps to find it:

1.  Press Exercise Days (Not on the workout itself):

2. Press on the exercise:

3. You'll see this awful, pointless info page, go back:

4. Click the same exercise AGAIN, (same as step 2) and now you will see all the details, including GPS map, heart rate graphs etc.

Does this work for anyone else?

Best Answer

Yeah, I see this and it works for me. But even this incredibly detailed screen fails to show the seconds in the total run time. Really unbelievable to me.

Best Answer

Yes, that worked for me, Maybejames, thanks!!

Did Fitbit do another pointless update?  Checked my exercise stats this morning and had the standard screen.  Checked it about 30 minutes later and it looks like a 4 year old designed it.  Stop making changes that people will hate!

Finally gave up on this. Only had the Fitbit for about 6 weeks before this update made it useless for me

3.5 months after spending > £100 on it I’ve paid for an Apple Watch instead

So many frustrations since I bought it, including the notifications that started popping up whilst you’re exercising to tell you to ‘keep going’. All these do is get in the way of quickly seeing the info on the display, or prevent you stopping/pausing when you need to

So disappointed with the experience and wasted money on this.

It only works if you used the GPS.   And the display is Soooo amateurish compared to the old one.  But the worst thing for me is that it only displays one exercise session at a time. I used to be able easily see and screen through several historic sessions so I could compare and monitor my exercise trends, progress and regressions and even see the differences that might be attributable to a different route.    Plain and simple ..this new app stinks…my long time loyalty to Fitbit is no longer justified. I need a new tracker now and it WON’T be Fitbit 😢

100% Agree.  Kind of a useless app now.

UPDATING MY COMMENT RE: EXERCISE DATA : after experimenting with the new app for a while, I have discovered that the historical data of exercise routines is still available. It’s just a little complicated to access it : to do so : 1. Tap anywhere in the « Exercise Days box ». This will bring up a screen titled « Exercise ». 2. In the top right hand corner of the exercise page there are three dots…tap on the three dots. 3. This will bring up a drop down box: select « Manage Data »    4. Scroll down to and select «  Exercise Logs and GPS Tracking »  5.  After the third paragraph on the resulting  page you will see in blue uppercase text «  REVIEW YOUR DATA « … tap on that and Voila there is the detailed data in the old format🙂.      So 5 steps to access what used to be visible on the opening page….better than nothing but soooo frustrating and I suspect that we will lose access to that data all together in the near future so I will still be shopping around for a new tracker.
