Fitbit Update 9/19/16

This issue where users experience a red "(not synced)" error next to their exercise logs on the iOS App has been resolved with the release of iOS App version 2.27. Click here to update your App if you haven't already.

Thanks you for everybody's patience while we worked this one out!

Fitbit Update 5/23

There is currently a bug where some iOS users see a red "(not synced)" error next to some of their exercise logs. Our team is aware and currently working on fixing this bug. Apologies for any inconvenience that this creates.

Please do not uninstall/reinstall the Fitbit App, uninstalling/reinstalling the Fitbit App could cause data loss.  If possible, I would also recommend logging activities on Fitbit.com until a fix is available.

I've been having the same issue when using MobileRun on my Blaze.  Connected GPS has the maps all distorted and incorrect.  Support suggested I use MobileRun while that issue was being fixed and now I'm getting the (not synced).  Support told me to log off/on and I lost all my maps.  I do have he step data but not the map that goes with it.  Support told me they escalated it to engineering.  It's been two weeks and I've sent numerous follow up emails with no response.

Hi @DerrickS

I'm using android and seem to be encountering a similar issue (although without the notification that the activity wasn't synced).

Thread here is where I originally encountered it. After that didn't get answered directly I found and commented on another thread and then made my own, but these latter two were merged together. The first thread then got a reply, so I put a bunch more info in there along with some screenshots.

So yesterday I was offered with a new beta dashboard for iOS app. Only difference is, that now the unsynced activity in the list is not marked as "Not synced". If I switch back to old dashboard in the app it is marked. So we have a new version of app but the bug is still there.

Looks like that's the reason why they made the re-design, in order to hide the "Not Synced" text instead of actually fixing the syncing issue .

Appreciate if we can get an update on this issue/bug, and the likely timeframe for when we can expect a fix.

Had a long run today (~20km) and have been unable to synch the activity since this morning. As much as I appreciate the suggestion to log it manually, you still don't get the same stats - splits, steps etc and you can't enter the distance either.

Having the same issue here as well. Ran a 1/2 marathon today and used MobileRun to track it on my iPhone 5s in addition to my Charge HR. The MobileRun data and the tracker data appeared seperately, but the MobileRun exercise had the "Not Synced" message with it. Logged out of the app, then logged back in and the MobileRun data dissapeared. Would love to have the map, splits, and other stats from my 1/2 marathon, but I fear they may be gone for good...?

How long are we supposed to wait for this problem to be fixed? I now have 8 activities showing (not synced). I am getting seriously frustrated and I am losing faith in your companies abitlity to fix this problem at all. The tracker market is pretty hot right now. I chose Fitbit because they were supposedly leaders in the field, sadly my experience has not shown this to be the case. I have had issues with this ugly black band since day one. Some activites synced, some would'nt. I lost several after deleting and reinstalling. How long are we supposed to wait for this to be fixed? The new Garmin GPS enabled tracker will be out in days; that device looks very interesting.

Very unhappy...

At least it's acknowledged as an issue with iOS - all I've got in my thread about the same on Android is one reply with the usual "have you tried resetting it?" blurb (which, while I appreciate that it may fix a lot of issues, doesn't relate to a problem with the app itself). I suspect the reason it's not been identified on Android is that we don't even get the "(not synced)" error, so a lot of people may not even be aware its happening.

I'd have though exporting a TCX or even a Fitbit-specific format , or syncing activities from another app would be easy enough to do as a stop-gap, but that would require a bit more openness than has been shown to date.

I received a response from Support telling me this is a phone issue, that the GPS coordinates are off from what the steps are reporting and that it doesn't match up so therefore it's not a Fitbit issue and that I should contact my phone provider because it's losing signal so the data from the steps data and the GPS data do not match and therefore do not sync. Seems like an odd response to me but what do I know.

That can't be right... I seem to remember a big fuss being made over the phone counting/calculating steps inaccurately, which is why they changed it so that the steps from your tracker would supersede the data from the phone when using MobileRun.

All the phone needs to track is time & GPS, and pretty much everything else comes from the tracker or is calculated based on that data.

Seems like a fishy response to me.

I haven't had a chance to contact customer support, my glitch just started yesterday... So with mine, itll track my activity no problem, but it won't transfer that info as exercise in the app. Yesterday I had 84 active minutes, with 64 minutes of that being a walk. When i synced my Alta, the active minutes all appeared, but it continues to say that i didnt exercise at all. If i try to manually enter in the walk, then it adds more active minutes, so thats not an option. I have tried all suggested fixes, and it still claims there is no exercise.

Progress? Still 6 not synced tracks

Not only is mine still not syncing, it shows me as doing other things (like the elliptical) during the "not synced" walk. I keep going and deleting those extra activities, but, still, it isn't synching the majority of my exercise.

Having the same problem with one run. It says not synced 😞

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem using the "track exercise" feature on the app.  I use it daily on my runs and recently the app has consistantly been crashing at some point during my run.  I'll look down to see where I'm at and see that the app isn't tracking anymore.  I have to stop, open Fitbit, it gives me an error message letting me know the app crashed, but saved my progress and then hit resume to keep going.  Frustrating when I'm trying to focus on my exercise, and then not knowing how long ago it crashed and how much mileage didn't get tracked.  After that when I try to sync the run it won't sync to the app.  It shows the route, but just says "Loading activity stats".  Eventually I can get it to sync after several attempts.  I've had my Charge HR since Christmas and had a Flex before that and never had this problem until this last month (May). I'm updated to the newest iOS Fitbit version, and have had this happen on both the new and old app versions.

I'm having the same problem too 😞
I did my first 10k yesterday, and now it won't sync correctly... I can see the map and so, but not the other data. Then the app/fitbit have tracked my exercise automaticly, but it's the same run and they don't combine. Any solutions????
I've updated the fitbit app and trying the new beta look.

I've had my fitbit hr for almost a year, before that fitbit one. Overall I'm very happy with it! 🙂 But I experince a lot of problems when tracking exercise (gps tracking is wrong (2 min per km in a walk??), app crashes ect.)

Welcome to the Forums @jbrichards88@robmaceachern @fleetwoodjack @Rebekka! There is currently a bug where some iOS users are getting the same "not synced" error you're seeing. Please take a look to @DerrickFitbit's post, he will update this thread as soon as he gets more information about it.

Thanks for your understanding!
