Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the App store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/22

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

I'm moving this post to the main thread in the iOS board.

I have had it since 2011. I have never minded any other changes that they have made, until this version. This really is a step back IMHO

Best Answer

This is definitely one of my issues! I don’t want to wear my glasses on this treadmill at the gym, but now it is a necessity :(.

Because they didn’t just update the graphics. They did “bug” improve, ents that weren’t improvements. That’s how sync on demand stopped working too.

@SunsetRunner I'm saying that before the update, the Fitbit did NOT track me going upstairs from a flat walk!  Since the update, the same walk I do almost every day (FLAT) at lunch is tracking that I've gone up 20 flights of stairs ... strange, right?

@Lsweet I snipped this shot of the competitor iPhone app from a web page.

Big plus is the GPS tracker and the heart rate monitor is different technology than Fitbit, more accurate.

I'm still wearing them side by side to see how it goes.  I have different needs - one of the big tests for me is data transmission with other apps, like Peloton, etc.

But, honestly, my biggest issue will be accurate data.  Something that seems to have changed since the Fitbit update (I don't know why that would be).  But that incorrect data has been consistent of late with Fitbit.

Below is competitor dashboard.

You are correct - in order for me to get ANYTHING to work on the new app version, I had to completely delete, reinstall and update my tracker... so there ya go!

I hate the new app.  Any way to get the older version back????

Ignore this, I was presuming the screenshot was of the Fitbit app.

It is a screenshot of the new app dashboard.

Saying it is a screenshot of the App web dashboard is a contradicting itself. It can not be both. It is either the web or the app.

It looks like the voices of this forum are not being heard. Basically the new dashboard sucks, on every level, from yesterday there' s "try premium" ads taking up almost half the dashboard that I cant get rid of. congratulations Fitbit, you just annoyed me to the extent that I'm seriously considering your competitors. I have been looking at competitors products over the weekend, I have to say there are quite a few potential alternatives to my Inspire Hr, took me hours to look thru all those products, eye opening for me.

Best Answer

I absolutely agree! --about the ads AND the quality of competitors. When Fitbit refused to even consider giving the original app back to us poor victims who were "chosen" to try it (my husband still has the original) I said we'd go shopping if we didn't get a better app. And we are.

I think it's fair to use this forum to discuss the pros and cons of the competitors and help each other shop. I'm checking out the apps for each device I consider. I won't make THIS mistake again.

I, too, have noticed my data isn't being recorded correctly with the new app...especially sleep. And unless I've begun walking in my sleep, I wake up with steps in the new day (past midnight) when I haven't left the bed. Frustrating!!

The Fitbit community forums are designed for Fitbit users to help each other out. If you have an issue that you feel a fellow Fitbit user would able to help you with, then please ask on the iOS board.

I'm sure that someone in Fitbit has taken note of this post, but we have a feature suggestion board that is setup so that Fitbit users may post their thoughts about suggestions already brought up.

I'm sure you all have added your vote and maybe a comment.

Allow Customers to choose between Dashboards

Amd maybe add your vote to the request that is about how bad the dashboard is that you so want back

Bring back the old androiddashboard

New dashboard

But even that dashboard was despised, if got did listen they would have to roll the dashboard back to the 2015 version.

How is it that everybody now loves

the dashboard that was simply horrible less than two years ago?

Personally I like this new dashboard which incorporates many of the features that the Fitbit community has been asking to be added to the dashboard. The fact that we have a new improved dashboard with what easily obtainable data that the community has been requesting for is proof that Fitbit does listen.

Since you as a community have been requesting these changes, I do not understand the issues

@Rich_Laue

This was bad advice when you proffered it before, and I’m afraid that it’s still bad advice.

People are unhappy, FitBit takes down suggestions to do EXACTLY what we want in the ideas forum, and telling people to not speak their minds in a community forum is staggering advice from a moderator and runs counter to the purpose of forums in general.

You can not possibly know if anyone at FitBit has taken notice of this thread because they don’t deign to reply to any @ mentions or direct messages.

Further, if you honestly can’t understand the community’s Dislike of the new UX/UI, I’d encourage you to review the 14 page thread instead of asking people to pipe down simply because you aren’t of the same mind.

This community should speak

its truth until FitBit listens or engages meaningfully. Or, they should leave the platform for a company that does.  Your advice to simmer down is unhelpful, fails to advance the issue, and borders on condescending.

Yes Fitbit does go through the board purging old dead inactive suggestions with very few votes

That is why I encourage people to add their votes. This will keep the suggestion refreashed and towards the front of the line.

As noted the suggestion to bring back the dashboard from 2015 is still there. Why, because of votes. Some of which where added recently.

BTW as part of the team that helps so this purging I do understand how it works.

As for Fitbit noticing. There are many posts from moderators mentioning that Fitbit has noticed. I assume they still are, and I've seen very few posts from developers, but in general I'm not sure if their is a reason for them to post considering that Fitbit users are doing a great job of helping each other out. That is what the community is about.

Which changes did it make that people asked for? You seem to know so I’d appreciate the specifics.

We could start with tips and challenges added, the ability to share from the dashboard and choose the background of the share.

The link you provided gave no hint of how to "change the background" on the "share" or anything else.

I'd also like to point out that I did not CHOOSE to download the new app. It's outrageous to not even give the user a choice. This is the stiffest, most full of bugs app I've ever used.

On the whole I dislike the 2.94 dashboard. It feels "designed" but it is less functional to me..

I do like I can put steps below the other items, but as compared to the older squares, which had there own problem, namely, I brought the Charge HR to track my heart rate and sleep, I care nothing for steps, stairs, goals, water etc etc... I wanted the "big box" to be HR, so settled for steps.

On the UI I can move steps lower, but it still has a "big box" while that things I care about are "small"... it shows such a lack of customer desire (being varied) to decide what's important and what's not.

I brought a new Charge 3, and it worked so nicely with the old UI (and it works with the new UI) I just hate the premium ad so much if I had not already brought the device I would have not upgrade, as it is I am really pissed off.

I want to post a picture showing the problem, but the insert image button is showing me junk fields instead of a file selector, so just indicative...  I can post picture after submitting, wow that caused much frustration.

I'd also like the space allocated to "Discover" ad at the bottom to go away, as when I scroll to the bottom or top having your junk services advertised is super annoying, there is already a third of the bottom allocated to discover.. I don't need the vertical scroll also ruined. And while talking of virtical scroll, while the device refreshes, this section of code resizes multiple time, which mean the UI ends up showing the prior mentioned junk premium service crap.

Complaint about old UI issue below:

Also while complaining I would like to point out that the heart rate graph that is shown when you drilling down/"zoom in" is useless, my heart-rate shows with higher fidelity on the non-zoom-in, because it range fits my actual heart rate, as compared to selecting a Y axis of 0-240, thus my 52-92 range takes up less pixels. Also the grain of the time on the X axis is too large midnight, midday, midnight. If atleast you could pan/zoom the drill down with re-gaining axis would be useful.

The app updated to 2.95 today (6/11/19) and I still see the old user interface.
