Fitbit continues to double down on the new app. Now the heartrate tracker during exercise is gone   Anyone have any suggestions for a new fitness tracker- one that actually listens to its customers and cares about fitness.

Hi everyone, and welcome to our new members.

Thanks for your continued reports, the screenshots provided and every step that you've tried on your own. I'm sorry for the issues you've experienced with the Fitbit app. We constantly work to improve our products, and feedback like yours helps us to work on each of our features and services.

While the format of the Fitbit app and certain tiles changed, all your information should continue being available including your heart rate data. After you tap on the Exercise tile and select one of your logs, you'll see your stats with the heart rate information (see screenshot below):

On the other hand, if the heart rate is not displayed at all, may I know if your activity was recorded using the Exercise app? Or was it auto-recognized by your Fitbit device? Also, have you updated the Fitbit app to the latest version? Please reply back with these details as it'll help me to further investigate in my end.

Hi! Thanks for the response. Confirming I am on the most recent update (iOS version 4.06).

The only way I’m able to navigate a chart of heart rate zones is by going to the “active zone min” tile. This will give me an overall read of daily zone minutes. If I go exercise days > tap exercise, I’m shown a high level over view without the ability to tap into anything. I’m not seeing the chart that you were able to screenshot as an example.

Attaching my example of an auto detected walk. Is the issue perhaps that I am not choosing a workout? I’m having the same issue when Fitbit detects my Peloton work outs and when I add my own exercise in.

My experience/issue is the same as Tmj213—see attached screen shot of the only "details" view I can access, same as hers. I've looked everywhere in the app, and there's no way for me to get to the screen you showed here with the heart rate breakdown across an exercise.

@LizzyFitbit  I always start my exercises (primarily Walk) from my fitbit. When I tap on an exercise log, I initially see the basic stats, then a few seconds later I see the full details including the map, heart rate graph, time in zones, etc. I'm assuming the delay is due to server lag.

But, some of the data displayed is incorrect. The exercise duration in the new version of the app no longer displays seconds (e.g. a duration of 1:10:57 is displayed as 1:10). The minutes are not rounded up or down, the seconds are just dropped. To make matters worse, the pace calculation is using the truncated duration. This is causing an incorrect pace on the app and on the website dashboard.

1:10:57 / 4.08 = 17'23" /mi (correct)
1:10:00 / 4.08 = 17'09" /mi (incorrect)

The screenshot below is actually 3 different screenshots. The one across the top is from the website dashboard. The one on the left is from the v3.9x version of the app and the one on the right is from the v4.06 version of the app. For those who don't know, you can view your exercise log in the v4.06 app as it was displayed with the v3.9x app. You can even re-categorize your exercise there. See how here.

Please make the developers aware of this. It's a simple fix: 1) display duration in the app using the h:mm:ss format, 2) calculate pace using the h:mm:ss duration instead of the h:mm duration.

Hi @LizzyFitbit,

Please note that has problem has been reported here and various other ways for 3 weeks already.

For such a visible feature and widespread problem, I am sure Fitbit should already know this problem long ago. Did we miss any official acknowledgement on this problem officially and is there any estimated date of the fix coming if ever?

Lizzy, thanks for getting involved in this issue of viewing heart rate data per tracked activity.  I have previously raised this here, and appreciate your advising that "the issue with the heart rate data not displayed for manually logged or SmartTrack activities has been escalated to our team."  I write now to explain why this is so important to me.

I am in my 70's and in need of more cardio activity than my lifestyle generally provides.  A few months back I started a daily exerted walking routine that has improved a number of my health factors, even though I am only walking less than 30 minutes per day.  The heart rate data that was previously reported on the app for each exercise (not a daily average) was a significant motivating factor in my routine. I could view and compare on a single screen the heart rate graphs for multiple days, and the average heart rate for the exercise, along with length of time (and I can't recall now whether that single screen for multiple days also included the breakdowns of degree of cardio or if I had to look elsewhere).  In viewing the data all at once, I could see whether I had dropped back and that would motivate me to strive harder the next day (e.g., do more uphill legs, push through the walking more, etc.) in order to better my results.  It now takes me multiple clicks to get to a screen with multiple days exercises showing, and that gives me only time and total zone minutes (not cardio levels or heart graph) -- and even when you click on the individual exercise, that information does not appear.

I hope this information is helpful to those reworking the app to understand how the former designs were used so that they can restore the app to its previous function.  Thank you, again, for your help.

I have the most recent version of the app and I’m using a Luxe version 20001.194.91, I always update when I’m informed there’s an update. Like other users, I also don’t see heart rate graph for either logged exercises or auto detected exercises. And if I return to a few months ago before this became an issue, those heart rate graphs are no longer visible.

Hi there, @asiayeah@jdw321 and @Kgriswo3.

Thanks for the additional information. I understand how important this data is to you, as it helps you to view the impact of your workouts. I'm sorry for any frustration this has caused, and I appreciate your honest feedback.

As I mentioned before, our team is already working on this matter. While we don't have a time frame, we'll keep them informed of the impact to all our members. I'll also update this thread once I receive more details from them.

@LizzyFitbit and fitbit

This basic and highly visible problem has been happening for over a month. It is sad to hear there is no time frame to fix it.

Professionally, this problem is caused by a new recent change. It should be a high priority and fairly easy to identify and fix the problem.

Perhaps I shouldn’t care about Fitbit anymore and let it go.

Heart rate during exercise is the most important reason I use fitbit and the app. For Fitbit/ Google to not even answer our posts until 3-4 weeks later is a slap in the face. For fitbit to take down posts that have everything to do with this subject and claim that it doesn’t is absolutely absurd. Im switching brands and will never recommend Fitbit or Google. This should have been an easy fix.

Hi there, @Scamp1956 and @Kgriswo3.

Thanks for keeping me posted. I'm glad your exercise heart rate is displayed correctly on the Fitbit app.

For the ones that haven't done so, please make sure to update the Fitbit app to the latest version and check if your heart rate appears for all your activities, including the ones recorded using the SmartTrack function.

Hi there, @Contihealth.

I've moved your post to this thread so we can keep the forums organized. Thanks for letting us know about your exercises and I'd like to let you know that this issue was escalated to our team, and should be fixed with the new Fitbit app version.

Because your post didn't mention, may I know if you've updated the Fitbit app on your phone? If not, please make sure to install it and check your exercise details one more time to see if your heart rate gets displayed.

My Fitbit has been updated, completely deleted, downloaded again. Previous data removed, trying to make your app load . Followed all the instructions on the help sites. Nothing works .
Will not even auto recognise walking . I have to use gps , and stop and start it . Which I often forget to do. Very disappointed with this product. I have spent more time looking at your help sites, than using it and a getting results.
