If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:
We appreciate the additional details.
Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.
Update 7/15/2018:
Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.
Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.
Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.
While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.
Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.

I'm at Fitbit iOS 2.53, in iOS 11.4.1 on Iphone 8Plus. Same issues with saving food. Seems intermittent, as I do have entries from the day that saved correctly. Can't find the pattern. Any way to roll back 2.53?

Same problem here, it started with my custom foods but now it will not allow me to enter random foods from my food list into my daily list. Also, if I try to add more foods to an entry it randomly resets the quantities. At this point I have no accurate record of what I've eaten since yesterday morning.
I suspect what we may have here is a software bug.

Problem with the latest version of the Fitbit app that Fitbit should have informed users about rather than having them thinking their phones had a virus. No word of when it will be fixed and suggested work around is not worth the effort as data entered via Fitbit.com does not sync with the app. Come on Fitbit, get your act together and fix this problem pronto. If that is not possible in the next 12 hours then let users reinstall previous version that worked. Also in the future, if a problem arises, inform users immediately rather than putting them through the mill trying to find out if something is wrong.

Pleas fix this ASAP or at least allow users to roll back to the previous version.

Only today, after seeing an update come through from the apple store, I began to add my daily food intake. One of the items for breakfast, sausage, which has been accepted fine since the start of my experience with Fitbit. Today, it converts sausage to two christmas cookies!
A few other food selections do not appear in the summary, regardless of my approach.
I've slid the app off the screen and restarted the app, no change. I've shut the phone completely off and restarted it, still get christmas cookies in place of sausage.
Seven ounces of no-fat milk appear on the summary screen for a brief instant and then vanish. The Share option shows only the two previously entered food items.
I've removed all the food items, restarted the app, re-entered the items and get the same results.
How can I roll back this version or will this failure be fixed in the near future?

I realized that I neglected to provide device information. Apple iPhone 6s plus, iOS 11.4, plenty of storage... not sure what else to provide.

Literally got half way through entering my lunch log today and then noticed items disappearing as soon as I saved them. Any ETA on when a fix will be released?

Why didn’t they pilot the update before a full release. As rolling back an update to whole global user base ant going to happen.

Thanks for the update. I just called in about this & was told it’s a system issue & being looked into for repair.
Now, if you FITBIT mods could just get some action going to control all the unofficial “Ti der” like behaviour between suggestive photos & creepy responses! No one should be able to use the app, if they don’t already own a FB device & enter a serial number!
