Update 7/19/2018: This issue is now resolved, please ensure your app is updated if you still experiencing this issue. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked on a fix. I'll be closing this for further reports. If you are experiencing any new issues with food logging, please start a new thread.
Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.
If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:
-
- Are you already updated to 2.53.1?
- What is the OS version that you are running on your iPhone?
- What food database are you using?(See Account>Advanced Settings>Food Database).
- What language are you using the app in?
- What foods are you trying to log?
- What specific interaction are you doing that is not working? (Adding, editing, deleting, scanning).
- What time/date did you see the issue?
We appreciate the additional details.
Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.
Update 7/15/2018:
Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.
Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.
Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.
While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.
Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.
Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

Still not fixed - issue now running for days.
fit bit don’t seem bothered and just say use the web app.
So I have done some digging... for everyone who is also using an iPhone I see there are apps on the Apple store that can convert and copy all historic data from Fitbit into Apple health.
I’m now starting to think they can’t fix the issue for the foreseeable future as no new information for days and they say just use the web app.
So what is it going to be Fitbit??? Days Or Weeks or Months until you can fix???
Are you going to provide ANY new info or timescales??????
Im guessing no fix and no app roll back???
Fitbits silence is deafening!!

The problem started a couple of days ago; if I log everything as green peas I can log calories but it’s hardly helpful. Going to the full webpage is a problem also as it freezes on me - not sure if that’s the webpage or my older computer. I seldom use the computer working everything through my iPhone.

Everything tech is bound to have issues, so this part doesn't concern me. It does trouble me that Fitbit is quick to admonish you for an inappropriate post within a huge thread of people doing little more than wanting status updates. With a little communication most of the posters here would probably be satisfied.
I personally wouldn't leave the product over a few days of inconvenience but what has happened is my realization that I made a poor choice in my purchase. I was happy as a fat guy in an ice cream shop when I bought my Charge 2 & Aria Scale, and have been really good tracking everything since day 1. I would never have looked back if this wasn't happening. As a result of following this thread, which could have so easily been avoided by Fitbit, I came to the realization that for the same money I spent on my Fitbit products I can have an Apple watch, which I would never buy do to the stupidly high price. I am on my way to Best Buy to make my returns. thanks for the memories.... . f

My post mentioning that their stock price is much lower than 2-3 years ago has been deleted too.
In the same post I even said that Apple watch is not an option because of the low battery life...
Go figure...

Mine logs my foods, but when I go back in the foods change! Hard salami became a 1200-calorie waffle-cone desert. Corned beef became coconut frosting. Wtfffffff.. I feel like someone is playing games with me!

Web does not work either on iPhone. I have no other computer at the moment. Since this issue cannot be resolved and their is no communication, I think we should all be refunded what our devices cost including the aria scale so it can goe towards the Apple Watch which I hear is a better but spendy product!!!

I've had three of their wearable devices, and I also have the Aria scale. I've been a customer for three years. However, I have had multiple issues with the app going back the entire three years. I even gave up tracking for a while because it was so frustrating. Yes, tech companies have bugs here and there, but the way they react to them says a lot about the company.
I'm sure they'll delete this post too.

How will we be alerted when this is fixed? Just keep our eyes peeled for an IOS App update? Are we sure it is the app and not something on the back end?

Dashboard not working on Fitbit.com site either!!! I have to use iPhone because computer is down. This is garbage. I am hoping it is accurate on excersize and calories. If you all cannot get this resolved in timely mannet(been 3 days) maybe we should get refunded for the watch and aria which I also purchased. I am having issues with it syncing.

Posted this on Facebook....
https://www.facebook.com/FitbitUKIreland/posts/2066087470130547
I'm not holding my breath for a response.
For anyone not wanting to view it on FB here is what I've posted:
----------------------
FITBIT. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS....
EIGHT days ago I bought a Fitbit Charge 2.
THREE days ago Fitbit pushed out an update for iOS, which broke the app - it is impossible to log food via it. For any Fitbit users not aware you enter one food item, it either deletes it or it changes it to a completely different one with a different calorie count.
On the Fitbit community site, there is a thread which is TWENTY-NINE pages long (and growing). Everyone posting about the problems with the broken app.
The support from Fitbit has been just about ZERO. The only response from Fitbit is "we know, don't use the app, use the website, monitor the (29-page) thread for updates".
Customers are angry I have read literally HUNDREDS of posts from users who are saying this is the final straw and that they are ditching Fitbit. I'm wondering about trying to return mine.
I have just TWO questions for Fitbit and I have a feeling that they will not answer them, or they will talk round them.
1. This is a fundament part of the app, it is not just affecting some users it is affecting EVERYONE who logs food via the iOS app - why was this released without this being tested?
2. For some people calorie counting is a bit of fun - for others, it is a serious health issue. Because of this WHY has the 'upgrade' that caused these issues not been withdrawn from the Apple App store and rolled back to the previous working version?
Fitbit, I look forward to hearing your response... and I bet you don't answer my two questions.
Signed - a disillusioned new user.

I did the update and realized there was an issue with food entry. I thought deleting the app and reloading would solve the problem (I foolishly did not look here first). When I tried to find the Fitbit app that I had, I could not find it in the App Store. Will that be fixed as well?

If I'm going to get penalized for a waffle at least I would like to
actually be enjoying it. You can log your foods on the web page until they
get this sorted out, it is working fine and in less than 20 minutes or so
it seems to sync with the phone app just fine.

I would encourage you all to review the app on the App Store. Fitbit have no control over that. Let's see how long this post lasts.

Just tried to send a private message to James Park, CEO, President of Fitbit; but you can't direct message him on this site apparently. I was just wondering if he or Eric Friedman, Chief Technology Officer were aware of the problem?

Hi, is there any estimate on when a fix (I assume a new version of the Fitbit app) will be released?
