Update 7/19/2018: This issue is now resolved, please ensure your app is updated if you still experiencing this issue. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked on a fix. I'll be closing this for further reports. If you are experiencing any new issues with food logging, please start a new thread.

Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.

If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:

      • Are you already updated to 2.53.1?
      • What is the OS version that you are running on your iPhone?
      • What food database are you using?(See Account>Advanced Settings>Food Database).
      • What language are you using the app in?
      • What foods are you trying to log?
      • What specific interaction are you doing that is not working? (Adding, editing, deleting, scanning).
      • What time/date did you see the issue?

We appreciate the additional details.

Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.

Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.

Update 7/15/2018:

Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.

Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.

Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.

While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.

Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.

Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

From the last update I have problem with entering foods data, no more documenting neither calculating the calorie consumed or burned!

How much longer is this problem expected to last? Logging food in on the dashboard is horrible-it doesn’t show the calories until after you have logged it so I am constantly going back and forth changing the serving size to get the correct amount of  calories. It is very time consuming and frustrating.

Still having issues logging food through app today also.

Now how cool would that be if it were real?

I'm having other random entries being added to my food log:

This has been going on for too many days, and there's no workaround -- our only choice is to jump ship and use another app.

No, the webapp won't work because custom foods don't appear there, and the search is awful (it's beyond me why the results differ from the iOS one so much).

Wonder if competitor Apple created the glitch on iOS on purpose? Just a thought.

Okay Kate... looks like people are starting to run short on patience.  And I don’t blame them.  While the Fitbit.com dashboard is an “option”, it’s neither ideal nor a long term solution.  It displays fewer items under most used and recent than what the app has available to select from and I can’t scan barcodes.  Like others have expressed, it also has several challenges with trying to log on a phone.  I’m less concerned about the macros and more concerned about being able to real-time track calories in and calories out to stay within range for my daily calorie goals.  Can you at least give us an eta on a fix?  Or roll us back to the previous version.  Thanks!

It's happening to me for the last two days, as well. It's tracking activity just fine, but won't log foods.

Now when I log my food into the zoo it changes it to another food altogether. WTF?? Undo the update!!!

This is crazy - how long will this fix take?  The dashboard is not a good substitute.  Are you offering replacements?

I’m thinking I will too

Today's my birthday, and my wife gave me a Fitbit Ionic, an upgrade from my present Fitbit.

I haven't opened the package.

If this issue isn't resolved quickly, I won't open it. It will be returned and I'll get a different product.

The problem itself is less of an issue for me than how it has been handled by the company. I had to come to this forum to discover what the problem was. And the only information we've received is a couple of posts from the moderator thanking us for our patience. That has become laughable, given that it is obvious people have run out of patience.

This entire experience has shown the company to have an extreme lack of concern for their customers. Where is the communication? Fitbit seems to have reached that point where they are disconnected from their customers and feel their success allows them to coast, rather than caring about us. This is the kind of situation competitors salivate over, because they know many of us will leave Fitbit. The sad part is that it appears Fitbit doesn't care.

@DaveMo....EXACTLY my point. This has been handled terribly. Fitbit does ONE thing, log food and exercise, and for several days it has been unable to do a huge part of that one thing.

NO notification. VAGUE responses. NO end in sight.

Completely agree. You want us to use the features we incorporate them
into our lives then they don¹t work. Will never purchase another Fitbit
product. Ever.

So this is the PM I just received from one of the moderators:

Hello Glenn,    Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community.  Unfortunately, I have had to remove your post quoted below as it violated our  Community Guidelines  as cross posting.   Apparently   not.  This needs to be a resume-generating event for someone!   Cross posting is posting the same content in two or more locations  or consecutively. Apparently they're more concerned with moderating the forums by cutting out complaints rather than actually fixing the problem.  Pathetic.

I got the same thing, and I'm sure they'll delete this too.  They are more worried about their image than fixing the problem apparently.  This seals it.  I'm done with them, and I've been a loyal customer for three years.  Way to piss off your customers Fitbit.
