@imnursed Welcome to our Community! When you mention ihealth do you mean another app? If the app is synced with your Fitbit account then some information is transferred but it depends on the app and what it can do with Fitbit. If you have a tracker paired to your account then the tracker should record your activity. If there is something else then please let me know more details so I can better assist you.
I look forward to your reply.

@AlvaroFitbit I am talking about my Health app that comes installed on my iPhone. It tracks my steps and uploads to my fitbit app, but I don't know if its accounting for my actual run or just my actual steps. I am burning more calories running than just steps calculated. I am really trying to stay on point with my calories in/calories out with my deficit so that I can lose wt. So, I'm just a little confused. I am hoping that it will get easier when I get my actual fitbit (Surge) this week.

@imnursed Actually you can use your Fitbit app to record your steps with a feature called MobileTrack. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit tracker by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. MobileTrack does not monitor floors, sleep, or active minutes. In addition to activity tracking, you also have access to other app features such as:
Check here the devices compatible with MobileTrack. I don't think that the Health app in your iPhone is compatible with Fitbit app. However, MobileTrack is a great option to keep up with your steps. To get started and if you haven't already download the Fitbit app from the Apple App Store and tap Join Fitbit. When asked which tracker you're setting up, choose "No Fitbit Yet?" and follow the MobileTrack instructions.
Now, if you already have a Fitbit account, log into the app and go to the Account screen. Choose the option for setting up a new device and follow the MobileTrack instructions. Finally, I've found an idea posted in the Feature Suggestion board proposing this integration to our devs; make sure you add your votes and comments! I really hope this helps, keep me posted!

@imnursed thanks for getting back to me! In this case, if you are logging your steps with Fitbit and MyFitnessPal then most likely you'll get duplicate results. Let me know if this makes sense. I'll be around!

No, you won't get duplicate results. When you log your exercise in MyFitnessPal, you select the time range, and Fitbit adjusts itself to not double-count the exercise during that time.

@daniip welcome to the forums! Perhaps I didn't explained myself properly. I meant to say that if you manually log your activity on Fitbit and then do the same on MyFitnessPal, then you will get duplicate results. Hope this makes sense.
