Fitbit Update 5/25/2017

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback. I can assure you the comments have been and continued to be reviewed and shared with our iOS team.

As a reminder, I'm including our help article on the Fitbit app here.

Overwhelmingly, recent posts share the sentiment of no longer being able to revert back to the original dashboard and not having the option to choose. At this time there are no plans to revert access to the old Dashboard, but we always appreciate feedback on how to improve our app.

As a reminder, Please remember to keep your posts respectful and on-topic, per our Community Guidelines. This thread will be better for everyone as a constructive conversation.

Fitbit Update 8/17/2016

Beginning with version 2.26 of the Fitbit app for iOS, the new Fitbit app dashboard with an updated look is now fully implemented. You can no longer return to the old design. We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we appreciate all of the feedback we receive from our customers.

You can find information about the new app dashboard and how to start using it by clicking here.

Fitbit Update 5/25/2016

I'm very pleased to announce that iOS users who have updated to version 2.23 of the Fitbit iOS App are now able to opt-in to use a preview of a new design of the Fitbit iOS dashboard!

One of my favorite features for this new dashboard preview is the quick log button in the bottom-center of the iOS App. This feature allows users to quickly: track an exercise, log food, log sleep, log water, send a friend request, scan a food barcode (if you are using the US food database), log their weight, or set an alarm.

Users can opt-in to use the new iOS dashboard design by:

1. Updating to version 2.23 of the Fitbit iOS App, click here to be redirected to the iOS App Store.

2. Click the Account button in the bottom right-hand corner.

3. Scroll down and click the Advanced Settings button.

4. Toggle the Preview New Dashboard button at the top of the page on.

@SmyrnaRetiree, thanks for the information about the tiles but as you stated the tiles can't be moved to the top of the menu above the line on the new Dashboard. So Fitbit has made the decision that steps etc are the most important data for everyone. This is not true for many users that use the app mainly for health. I need to gain weight and monitor my heart rate, calories in, calories burned, and sleep. If I could put these tiles on top I'd give it a try. So that's why I like the old dashboard much better. Now after 3 months of complaints in this forum and the iOS forum I have concluded that the Fitbit company doesn't care how their customers feel about the change. If I was in charge of Fitbit I would have put a rating system in the new dashboard Beta to get feedback. I am determined to find a better company who listens. Another example of "opps we messed up" is the Social Security officials that sent a notice in late June saying that to login you will receive a code by text as a security measure. I laughed and said "those dummies don't realize that most of their customers are elderly and don't use text". Well they listened and apologized, removing that requirement 2 months later. Please please pretty please with cream on top, give us the option for the old dashboard back. I and others hate the new one as it is not good on a mobile phones. A list format is far easier. There was nothing wrong with the old one and surely it is better to give people a choice rather than force people to use something they do not like. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Hi DisneyUK

Have merged your post, previously posted in the Fitbit.com Dashboard section with this thread in the iOS App section regarding the new dashboard.

Thanks Mystique, just to clarify, I do not have a problem with the new dashboard on PC or even iPad, just on my phone. It is obviously so much easier to scroll down a l list when you have limited real estate. When the new dashboard was realeased on iPhone I really struggled with the UX and still find this frustrating and was relieved to be able to change it back in the advanced settings. Since the last update I now have no choice and I cannot understand why giving choice to users is so difficult for FitBit to understand, especially when it costs nothing to do so. I hope they listen. Btw, I am a software developer and not afraid of change. But this makes no sense especially when a company claims to be community driven.

Please please pretty please with cream on top, give us back the option for the old dashboard. Admittedly many people like the new one but I and many others hate the new one on mobile devices. It is fine on PCs and iPads but a list format is a far easier UX on a phone with limited real estate. Surely, it is better to give people a choice rather than force people to use something they do not like? For a company that claims to be community driven this does not look good to simply ignore opinion and press ahead regardless. It costs you nothing to offer both options unless the code is so badly written it cannot be supported, so what is the problem with leaving the option? As a software developer myself, I cannot see how it makes sense to scrap code you have already invested in when clearly people want the choice. Please give us the option back?

I think the only way to make our frustrations with the new Dashboard and the lack of interest by Fitbit to listen is to give the new UI version one star rating in the App Store and tell everyone why. The Fitbit App has 2 rating buttons. One is for rating the current version (that's the one we hate) the other button is to rate the previous version ( the original UI) The new version has mostly 1 star reviews already but needs more! There is a new Charge HR and a new Flex coming in November and most people look at the App ratings before they buy. One star reviews will get Fitbit's attention.

Thanks, Ted

I hope all you people have voted on this request over in the feature request board.. This is where the developers monitor.

I've noticed that only 73 people are interested in getting the old dashboard back.

Good idea, I added a one-star review. But if you look at the multiple threads here, filled with complaints... I mean, I don't think it's possible that they don't know.

Best Answer
Exactly, Groundzero, they must know. And not care. Since versions just before 2.26 allowed either dashboard, it would not be hard to set that up. Not asking them to delete the new dashboard, just let people choose...

Hi there everyone! I'ts great to see you guys in the Community! 🙂

I totally understand where you're coming from as sometimes we don't like change. However, as @Rich_Laue said, you can vote for the feature request he mentioned on his previous post and the more people votes for it, the more chances to implement the ability to switch to the old dashboard.

Thank you all for your patience and your understanding with this!

@Rich_Laue, I'm not sure people know (I didn't) that the number of votes would make a difference. There are well over a hundred separate supportive comments detailing people's reasons for being dissatistfied with the new dashboard. Perhaps some people (like me) felt that would be more effective than a thumbs up (surely Fitbit would want to know why people are dissatisfied?). Also, people have threads and complaints in different sections, not just there--in the dashboard section, the iOS section, the Android section, the discussion section, the sections for their individual devices, etc.

As someone who runs online courses, I can tell you, once you reach a certain number of people, it's nearly impossible to get them all to post in one place consistently. It's far more than 75 people who are unhappy, is my long-winded point.

@Matthew. I'm sorry your company is going through this, but many people did NOT want the new dashboard. Now you have an expensive and time consuming problem to fix. Your company went ahead anyway and for what reason? Are your users gaining any new information with the new dashboard? Any advantages? I think not.

I'm pretty sure that at some stage I got busted down to a beginner again! I'm not a serious fitness freak so other than heart rate and sleep I pretty much ignore all the other information. Must be annoying for those of you who are/do.

There is 3 separate requests for the old dashboard.

One titled the new one is useless with many comments of i like the new dashbiard.

Another demands the old dashboard back

The third wants a choice, with the last 4 pages flooded with comments to each other by the same 6 people. No constructive posts found

Hello everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit this thread and share your feedback about the new Dashboard. Since the latest update ( VERSION 2.26 released on August 17, 2016) the new Fitbit app dashboard with an updated look is now fully implemented. You can no longer return to the old design. I shared the idea to keep the old iOS Dashboard on this post. Take a moment to add your feedback to the idea, our developers review this board constantly to improve Fitbit products and services.

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
