Update 12/5/2018: I'm sorry to hear some users are still not receiving notifications on iOS 12. We continue to monitor this issue and are working on a resolution. If you haven't already, please try toggling bluetooth on/off and ensure your Apple device is up to date.

Thanks for posting, vsseym. I followed  your steps and unfortunately my situation's not improved. Smiley Frustrated  The community appreciates users like you who try to help others out! There are probably multiple reasons why your help fixed some issues but not all.

This  was bug was apparently reported LAST OCTOBER, and apparently they're "still working on it" - 8 months to repair a bug would NOT have been acceptable response time in the company I retired from! It's truly sad and an indication of FB's "excellent" customer service (according to them, anyway) that they have not/will not fix this issue. They must be too busy working on this issue, since there has been no recent reply from them on a fix.

When I called FB, they told me that my device was no longer under warranty and their policy was to NOT provide any incentive for purchasing a new device. When I asked when I had bought the device, he told me he could tell I purchased it directly from FitBit, but it was their policy to not share any further information, even though he could tell he was speaking to the original purchaser.

It may be time to switch to Garmin or some other device. Can't WAIT until I get the FB email asking me to confirm how great their customer service is!

My ionic has had this issue since the iOS update in October - I get texts for about four days and than it stops for a day and they start working again. Support staff is non existent - terrible!

  • iPhone model you're using: iPhone 8
  • OS version running in your phone: 12.3.1
  • App version installed in your phone (go to Account > Help to get it):  Version 22.55.2 appears in the top banner of the account screen. FYI, there is NO "Help" in the Account screen
  • List of troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. I messed with it for a while searching online and got nowhere. Finally called FitBit support and got nowhere. Except that the non-helpful person I called the second time said he could see the case in the call log, but since I had a Charge 2 that was "retired" there was nothing he could do. He could tell I bought it directly from FB, but he couldn't tell me any details about the purchase, even though he could tell he was speaking to the original purchaser.
  • Steps I've tried include (but not limited to, and in no particular order):
    • reinstall FB app once
    • restart app and phone multiple times
    • disconnect/reconnect bluetooth multiple times
    • resync multiple times
    • Turn notifications off/on multiple times
    • unpair/pair FB and phone
    • probably other steps I can't recall right now.
  • Finally some magic combination of the above at least got text notifications to work, and phone call notifications to FAINTLY vibrate (only 2 vibrations, not for the duration of the call; the vibration is so slight that unless I'm expecting the vibration and LOOKING at the phone, I'd never notice it
  • Email notifications don't come through at all.
  • Calendar notifications and reminders to move still work (didn't stop working)

Is it time to consider purchasing a Garmin wearable device?

I've been checking out Garmin for the same reason. SOMEHOW I have managed a (probably temporary) resolution, but Garmin is looking promising.

After months with no real fix, I solved the problem.  I bought an Apple watch and haven't looked back.  It does so much more than the Fitbit and best of all, it works.  After being a loyal Fitbit user for many years and having used various Fitbit models, I say "thanks but no thanks, Fitbit."

Well mine had worked for about 3 months after doing what I posted. Even brought myself a new strap. It stopped working today. Time for an Apple Watch I think

I have the regular Versa and I had the same problem. I spoke to the online chat a month ago and then again today and they said it was just a firmware issue for any update after iOS 12. I did exactly what this post said and it fixed it. For now anyways. Thank you!

Also it's almost been a year at this point. This should've been fixed a long time ago. I'm replying to a post from September of last year and it's July.

The setting that is actually affecting the texts from coming up is at the very last step you mentioned. Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Previews

once you flip that to “Always” it brings your notifications back to your Fitbit. You can then switch it back to “When Unlocked” and it should still work.

For those experiencing issues receiving notifications after the iOS 13 after the update, please see this thread

This is an older resolved issue, I'll be closing it for further reports.
