Not getting exercise options when categorizing

Yesterday I have gotten a new Fitbit versa. This is the 4th replacement I have gotten because the versa just starts to completely malfunction after a few months. I went horse riding yesterday and the Fitbit had automatically registered my activity and logged it as a run. I wanted to edit this log and change the activity to horse riding. I have done this before by choosing an activity of the list but now nothing comes up. The entire list seems to be completely gone. Before you would just put in the first letter and it would give you all the sports in the Fitbit list. Now nothing comes up whatever I try. There is only the very short list of some recent activities and nothing else. How can this be fixed? Again it is not that just horse riding is suddenly missing, the entire list is gone!

Moderator Edit: Clarified subject

So i have done the following

  1. Tap the 3 dots and chosen To edit the type of exercise , tap Categorize Exercise and then there is no list and nothing to choose from where before I would have typed h and search and then gotten all the types of exercise starting with h (or horse or whatever)

hi @SunsetRunner sorry if that I was unclear I obviously didn't mean for you to randomly contact them 🙂 I was directing that at @boersma  who is experiencing the same issue, you can reach them via https://contact.fitbit.com

Change your location to Netherlands English and all the activities are back! You can do this under advanced settings

Yes I am also for the Netherlands, but currently staying in the USA and I tried both countries in the settings and no difference...

to answer your other question; yes I can also only choose from driving and motorcycle and no other activities pop up except those two.

I will try to email them as well later!

@Annefleur You absolute Hero!!! Many many thanks 🙏  It worked my list is back!! It is utterly bizarre though how do those 2 things have something to do with each other. Also why does the Netherlands have 2 options? And finally I never changed anything about that (or knew it existed). The setting must have been changed automatically after the update. @boersma hope this works for you as well

For me it worked as well! I had only changed the location in normal settings but not yet in advanced settings. Thank you so much!(:

@maartjevdm I think Netherlands has two options because you can choose Netherlands Dutch or Netherlands English.

I am experiencing the same issue on my Inspire HR.  I track the workout on my watch and then when I'm done, I have wanted to go in and categorize the exercise correctly.  For example, I did crossfit this AM but it was recognizing it as a bike ride.  When I go to the "Categorize Exercise", there is no search bar - just the 5 pre-populated exercises (run, walk, golf, swim, interval).  I messed with it for quite some time, but what seemed to work was choosing something other than biking from the pre-populated, for example run (even though it wasn't a run), and then going back to the exercise again and when I would go back into "Categorize Exercise" and the search bar would periodically show up.  Not a good solution and seems like a application glitch, but at least it started working.

Hi, @AMKolstad19 , for a better solution can you please let us know what app you are using ?  iOS or Android or Windows 10?

I'm on my iPhone, iOS 13.6 version. I exclusively use the app.

I have exactly the same issue trying to list my exercise as 'horse riding'. i'm o on my second Fitbit so I know that this isn't a hardware issue. However I think I found a solution:

1) When I go riding I set the work out as 'outdoor workout' from my watch ('horse riding' is not available on the list of workouts to choose from

2)  when I get back on my Fitbit at app and try to change the exercise to 'horse riding', the search bar has always disppeared so instead I choose from the list of activities that do appear and pick 'walk' (sometimes no activities appear at all so i go out, back to  the main menu, sync and try again until they do (no logic to this but it works)

3) I change the exercise to walk, come back into the main screen, back to my walk and then I find that the drop-down list has appeared and i can change it to 'horse riding' -

This seems to work consistently for me. Very annoying though!
