We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I am receiving calls but not texts on my new Versa 2. Is this a part of the update problem or with my new Fitbit? I have followed all the instructions and even reset to factory settings and reinstalled. Is there an ETA of when this will be resolved?

This is my exact problem too. I never used to have previews on but now this is the only way for things to work.

The problem is… Those are not features that I want turned on on my phone. I don’t like to see text message previews on my display, because I don’t like others to see my messages, and I don’t want the banner to be persistent. Fitbit needs to just get with the program.

I tried everything and nothing works. Going to Apple store tomorrow, maybe
they can help

I did the troubleshooting listed above and I now receive text notifications, but my question is: why do I have to change my notification preferences on my phone to make my Fitbit work? Especially since I only have this issue with text messages and not the calendar notifications or phone call notifications? I don’t want my text preview to be “always” on or even “when my phone is unlocked” just so I get the notification on my wrist. I hope you can work with Apple to figure this out...

I have a charge 2, I have done everything possible to get my messages to work, still no luck. I can’t even get my charge to reboot like the directions say. Very frustrating

Did u try putting your phone txt msg on ALWAYS preview? Mine is working now since I did that. I don’t like my messages on preview on my phone but at least I can read them on Fitbit when my phone isn’t near me

I don’t like that setting for my phone, so I’d rather live without the Fitbit notifications. If they don’t fix it soon, I may jump ship and start shopping around for something else.

Yes this is the only way it will work. But I do not want my messages to show on my phone, I like my privacy at work. I hope they come up with a fix soon.

Me too. I had considered something else but was gifted a Fitbit. Now I’m getting frustrated because I use it at work and it makes it easier to see a notification. And now I’m getting nothing.

I am getting calendar notifications for days ahead of time also that I never requested. One woke me at 5 am! And then 4-5 times today again. I finally took that item out of the calendar.
