We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I don’t want people seeing my texts that’s personal. If you click show previews everyone will see your texts. I’m switching to an Apple Watch I’ve had enough of this

OMG this fixed it and it doesn’t make my text pop up on the screen on my phone it still just shows my notification like I wanted. Thank you so much for posting this!!!! I seriously never realized how much I relied on this Fitbit text alert.

Went through all of the steps and it didn't completely resolve the issue. I am now getting the calendar and call notifications, but not texts - the feature that is most helpful to me. I know y'all are working on it, but one quick suggestion would be to send out an email to folks letting them know that you know there's an issue and that you're working on it, and not just here in the forum or in the app; an email. As someone who works in marketing and customer service I know Fitbit has the ability to send targeted messages so if it's only a couple of the devices that are having the issue, send it to just those groups.

I'll keep my eye out for an update, but I'd really like to have this functionality back on my device. It was working perfectly until the iOS 13 update.

agree x 100! hopefully Fitbit will heed your advice, especially since it was politely worded. one of my biggest pet peeves is lack of communication & i would say that's definitely taking place right now.

Totally agree, I’m over Fitbit, I’m going today to pick up my Apple Watch

I’m not showing notifications all so I get texts on my Fitbit that’s ridiculous. I already ordered an Apple Watch. I’m done with Fitbit this means it’ll happen with every update you do which is ridiculous. Fitbit is going to lose customers

It is working just fine here. I did get an update to the Fitbit recently.

To all of those people moving to Apple Watch beware of what you wish for. They are heavy, clunky, short battery life and are way too busy for my taste. Not to mention expensive. Had one and sold it. And I am an Apple everything guy. Apple TV, MacBook Pro. Three iPads, two iPhones, two iPods and an Airport extreme. The Fitbit met my needs better.

Of course, to each his own.

This is becoming annoying now. Have tried all your recommendations plus reinstalled the versa updated software. Still no notifications. Should we just write off versa now as a bad investment?

At least Apple watches works

I didn't make any recommendations. I was just adding my $.02 to the conversation.

But since you asked, did you go into the Bluetooth settings on your phone? Go and click on the "i" next to your Versa and see if the notifications switch is on. The iOS13 update changed a lot of settings unknown to me.

I agree, I don’t like having the preview on my phone for anybody walking by can read it.
