We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Good point - my last notification was on May 29. At that point I had an ancient iPhone 5S that used to notify me in the Fitbit device (via vibration) when I had a phone call or text. Unfortunately that feature disappeared MONTHS ago, and I thought it was my phone. But recently I purchased a new iPhone (major upgrade) and it doesn't send any notifications/vibrations to the Fitbit either. Of course I've tried all the suggested fixes from Fitbit without any luck 🙄

Have completed all the steps & still do not receive calls or txt messages in my FitBit Alta HR. Very frustrating, when are you going to solve the problem?

The last update we have gotten is from October 9th. Please provide a new update. This feature (the ability to receive text/call notifications) is very important to your customers.
I have been without this function on my Fitbit Charge 2 since October 5th. I have contacted your customer service area and was provide the information to hang tight and that the engineers were working on it. Can I get an update though?

Same. I’m starting to think about switching from Fitbit to literally any other smart watch. It’s freaking ridiculous how long this problem has gone on.

Enabling the notifications feature can only done in the IPhone under settings. If this feature is Not activated (enabled) your Fitbit device won’t be giving you any notifications. I’m not familiar with Androids, however, it’s my understanding they have something similar to what the IPhone has in terms of notifications.

Those steps don’t work. This is extremely frustrating! I hoped the Fitbit app update would correct this. Fix the errors!!!

I installed the new iOS update for my iPhone 8 on Friday Oct. 18, 2019 and after reading the suggested troubleshooting options, all I did was restart my iPhone and I started receiving notifications again with no more issues. 😀

Restart your phone and reconnect your Bluetooth for your Fitbit. That’s all I did and it worked for me.
