We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

Dear Fitbit - LISTEN CLEARLY WHEN I SAY THIS.  Turning Previews on is NOT ACCEPTABLE.  I choose not to have previews of my texts come through my phone for a *Reason* - so turning this on so that my fitbit works right is NOT a solution!!!!

Best Answer

EXACTLY!!! Make it work the way it did before, WITHOUT having to allow previews on the phone screen! This is for our safety and privacy!

Best Answer

The only way the text messages are working is changing it to show previews. This is not ok and a very unacceptable fix. The fact this has been going on for over a month now is horrible. And customer support is not giving anything to loyal fit bit users in return, give us a credit or a store discount, it is the least you can do if you want to keep us from going over to Apple. This has been by far the worst customer experience I have received. Get it together Fitbit.

Mine is the same as your info except my watch is out of warranty so I am stuck without a  $300 watch or bracelet!!!!

Hello and welcome @davek395865

I understand your having a notification issue. Currently this is a know issue and The Fitbit Team is working on a fix. I have no timeframe as to when this fix will be coming. In the meantime please post all your questions and concerns on this post here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Stopped-seeing-notifications-after-updating-to-iOS-13/td-p/3... You can also see the most recent updates there as well as any tips and possible workarounds that may work for you.

I’m sorry I can’t be any more help then that.

This fix worked for me, for a while. I had to delete and reinstall almost
every time I tried to see my tracking information. After a couple of weeks
this fix stopped working as well as all the others.

You would do this under your iPhone Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show
Previews>Always

Hi, today is 10/23/19 I am still not receiving notifications when someone texts me. I am finally getting the notifications if my phone is ringing.. Really needing to know how long this is going to take to work properly??

Best Answer

I have checked all of my settings, turned my phone on and off. Reset the blue tooth, rebooted my fit bit charge 3. Still no text message notifications are coming through since the last iPhone update.

I have also checked the setting on my charge 3 itself to make sure notifications are turned on. re synced fit bit. I have tried everything listed with no luck. The whats-app notifications come through without an issue just seems to be texts have a problem.

Will there be a fit bit update to the application that will fix this issue?

Same!! So frustrating! I’ve tried every single thing listed and suggested. Instagram, email, FB etc all work as do phone calls but no texts! Honestly the text part is the only thing I need and the only thing that doesn’t work. Ugh.

Same! I followed ALL the troubleshooting options. Nothing. Is someone asleep at the wheel.

What instructions are you saying you followed to get it to work?

I’ve tried everything from this post.

Is there something new?

The instructions don’t work for me. I’ve done everything plus what others have tried. I’ve given up.

Nothing has worked for me.  I have a chargeHR.  I am just about done with Fitbit.

The notification just started working when someone calls. Not when someone texts. Normally it would vibrate on my wrist but nothing

changing text notifications preview to ‘always’ worked in that I’m now getting notifications of texts- (but I’m not happy having my text messages previewing on the screen) My calendar notifications seem to be working intermittently and I don’t know re calls.

Someone told me to go into notifications on my iPhone. Scroll down to Fitbit. Go down to Options and choose “show previews”, if it says always (default), unselect it and resell the it.
It worked for me. I am getting text messages now. It shows almost the entire message on my phone and my Fitbit, but until they figure out the issue at least I’m getting a text notification
