We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I agree and now that Google is buying Fitbit, it makes me think I wasted my money and will have to jump to Apple. Sad.

Yes turned off both phone and watch reset Fitbit app and it just started working. Not right away but a day later. Maybe Fitbit resolved the problem

I too have tried everything to get my text message notifications to work again. The only way they will work is to turn messages to preview always, showing my whole text message to the world. Unfortunately, that is not an option for me. So I relied on my fitbit to send me an alert when I received a text. Is this problem ever going to be fixed? I really don't want to spend the money for an apple watch. Or want to go with something as big as an apple watch either.

Changing the setting on my iphone for Messages to Show previews seemed to correct this issue.  However this really goes against my preference of having my texts previewed.  Really hoping you correct for this since I really don't want to preview my texts on my phone. I don't care if I don't see the preview on my wrist either, just want to be notified that something came through.

I completely agree. I get a lot of work text messages and they cannot be previewed over my phone by others. Half the time I don't even know that I have a message. Just very frustrating. I have an Alta HR

I just got the versa 2 on 10/29. Firmware is up to date but I’ve never gotten a single text notification on it. I’ve done everything suggested at least 3 times. Short of uninstalling and starting all over again. I have an iPhone 8 and updated to the latest iOS. My husband has the Versa and no notifications issues and an iPhone 8 as well. What else can I do to try and fix it? 😔
