Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I’ve been messaging with fitibit this morning g and they say they’re working on this problem but cannot give a time frame for resolving it. I’m returning mine for an Apple Watch!

Unfortunately they have been saying this for months. I already bought an Apple Watch. Just a shame I had to. My Fitbit is 1 year old. Wasted money.

Same, I have to restart my phone periodically to get notifications working again.  Also still not getting my sleep data since 12/12.

I am having all of these same issues. After the update notifications stopped.  Then after trying all the “fixes” the phone issue started happening.  ALSO I do not want my Notifications for messages set to “always or when unlocked”.  I want it to send me text notifications when set on “never” just like it did before the update.  Something really needs to be done to fix this issue.

I have been dealing with this for months. I have tried all the suggested steps in this post and I have called numerous times and talked with someone on the phone with no luck. The person on the phone said they would email me if they had any updates, but still have not received anything. Out of 4 people in my family that all use the same fitbit devices, 2 of us have issues and the other two don't. I previously had the Fitbit Charge 2 until Christmas where I got a Fitbit Versa 2 which I thought would solve my issues and I wouldn't have a problem anymore. Still the same issues. Beyond upset over this after receiving this Fitbit as a gift and contemplating taking it back because of this issue.  The other person in my family hasn't even taken hers out of the box because I am having issues and she is ready to take hers back.

I got my Fitbit working yesterday. What I did was removed my Fitbit from my IPhone Bluetooth, shut down my Fitbit, and started installation all over again like it was new.

I’ve done every everything suggested including this one. Messages still aren’t coming through. I’m frustrated by this mostly because my sister has the iPhone 11 and the Fitbit charger 3 and isn’t having any issues. And my mother has the same phone as me, iPhone XR, and the Fitbit versa lite with no problems. I’ve got the iPhone XR and the versa 2. I haven’t been able to get messages on my watch since I got this phone back in March. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried everything I possibly can and the texts still aren’t coming through. I do very much like the versa 2. Just wish this problem could be resolved.

Fitbit - this is ridiculous! You have 41 pages of people having a major issue with your product and I don’t see any support or feedback. I got my new fitbit as a gift this Christmas, meaning my phone was already up to date and have not received text or call notifications since I opened it, despite going through all of the troubleshooting steps (and resets) multiple times. What are you doing to fix this issue?? Your customers deserve to know!

I have been following the steps above for months. My iPhone X, on the latest iOS 13.3 version still does not receive any notification. Fitbit versa is updated. I have reset the versa many times. No luck. And all settings are set to what is described in the solution. Is fitbit still working on a solution?

HI, I found a solution that worked for me. I have the same phone as you.

Go to settings then privacy.

Scroll down to Motion & Fitness

Turn on Fitness tracking.

As soon as I turned it on, my text messaging notification came up on my Fitbit Versa.

Hope this works for you too!

That privacy setting was already switched on for me. I did try turning it
off and on, but still nothing. Thanks for the tip though!

Fitbit;

what are you doing about this? I have the Versa Smartwatch.

There are so many with the same issue I spoke to your support yes and they said you were looking into.  Please fix this otherwise it makes the smart watch unsmart???

What is the purpose of this post when it doesn't fix the issue?.

It is not working for almost all of the people using IOS 13 or above.

Moreover, stop broadcasting as it is fixed and mention it is still being looked into it.

I have Charge 2, Iphone 11 and IOS 13.2

I just followed every steps again. I Restated both my fitbit versa and
phone. And it works! So happy! If you have already tried the steps several
times before (like I did!) Try it again and be careful not to miss any
step. Then restart everything! I noticed under notifications for messages,
I did not have “show preview” set to always. Missing that step could have
prevented it form working. Don’t lose hope!! 😊
