Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Okay so I was frustrated with this for hours! But I finally got them working again. You HAVE to follow these steps exactly or else it won’t work. Literally check every setting for messages and phone on your actual iPhone. Also, make sure it says “show previews” when unlocked or always! I had it as never and as soon as I put it as when unlocked I got the texts to my Fitbit. That was my issue in the end of why it wasn’t working because my other settings matched the directions provided by Fitbit in the help article. Trust me I did all of the other settings multiple times but when I found the show preview settings it’s working! I hope I can help anyone out because this stressed me out and I’m glad I finally got it working now!!

I found it extremely stressful, as I was missing important text messages from my daughter.

Try settings, general, reset, reset all settings, it seems to be working for people and it worked for me.  Need to have show previews also on all notifications you want you fitbit to receive.

Except now your phone shows previews of the texts right? See that’s not what I want but if it’ll get us by then it’ll have to do until a real fix comes out.

I’m in the same boat. I get half of the notification or a glitch that only shows half the sentences. I can’t do challenges,  Also, my heart rate meter is going wack. It works sometimes. It also gives me false readings. It is very sad to pay so much for something that you love and for it not to work the way it’s supposed to.

Mari8811: Go to page 68 of this discussion and follow directions from user MurphyAllen. (I went ahead and copy/pasted her instructions below)  This worked and now I receive text notifications. I am elated. I hope it works for you!

DID WORK (iPhone X + Versa) - completely severing the Fitbit connection to the phone and starting clean:

  • I placed my watch on its charger during this entire process, for what it is worth
  • iPhone - Settings - General - Storage - (find Fitbit & select Delete App); confirm app is deleted from its usual location
  • iPhone - Settings - Bluetooth - (find device & select Forget This Device)
  • reboot iPhone
  • reboot Fitbit (press & hold left button and bottom right at the same time for about 10 seconds until the home screen appears)
  • reinstall Fitbit app, login, setup, establish Bluetooth connection, etc.

If you do not go through the full initial login + setup on the Fitbit app to reconnect to the watch, it wasn't a complete sever and you will need to redo it. I genuinely hope this works for you, too! *cheers*

I also updated everything and conducted every step except for factory reset. The issue that I am having is the Fitbit is showing me 15 to 30 bpm more on my heartbeat but only once it hits 90. How do I know this? Because I am using an alive core and a blood pressure cuff that both give me a heart rate

That are the same but the Fitbit is much higher. I also noticed that when I take it off for a shower and place it on the sink in the bathroom, when I am standing close to it it is giving me readings of having a heart rate in the upper 180’s .But as soon as I put it on my heart rate will drop down to 68 bpm.

Thank you. It’s working for me now as i had to allow all notifications and, yes, all text messages can be seen on my phone in lock mode. But at least now I know and can have a choice when needed. I can leave my phone tucked away when I am in meetings and still get texts.

I have tried all the steps, reset my Fitbit, deleted the app, forgot the Bluetooth. Nothing has worked for me. I really loved my Fitbit charge 2, however I just bought an Apple Watch. I need to see my text messages due to not being able to have my phone on my desk at work, and with two children one at home and one at school I need to be able to get text messages if something happens. So I’m glad some of you got it working sadly I can’t and I’m tired of waiting.

Not working for me. Stinks I have the Versa and does sync to phone but I get no text messages to my watch anymore.

I’ve been getting all notifications but texts. After following ALL the tips in this monstrous thread and adjusting all settings, forgetting device, rebooting, etc.  I found that I had to completely shut down my messages/texts app in order for text notifications to come to my charge 3. But keep in mind this is after I adjusted just about every setting according to the previous tips. I’ve tested it. If the text app (iPhone 7) is open I won’t receive notifications on my Fitbit. But when I completely close the app (double tap, swipe) it works.  Granted not a true fix but  it’s workable until they come up with something better.

I have followed all the instructions and I am not getting a heartbeat read on my fitbit.  What else can I do? I have powered down the watch a number of times.  In settings I have toggled the Heart Rate tracker on and off. I have deleted the app, powered my phone back on, re-added, I am not sure what else to do.

I did the recommended trouble shooting multiple times and still no luck. I no longer get text notifications on my Versa, which was one of the main reasons I got this product. I haven’t been able to get texts for over 3 months.  What is being done to fix this issue?

@cshawl for your Inspire HR:

  • Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if your tracker is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  • Restart your phone
  • Restart your tracker
  • Go back to the Fitbit app and try to enable All-day Sync or Notifications again.

Still not working.  When I click Notifications in the app it just sits and thinks then tell me that Bluetooth pairing failed (I've done all of the things Bluetooth needs) and asks if I want to try again.  When I click try again, it doesn't do anything. The same thing happens when I try to turn on All-Day sync.

I have tried every troubleshooting step and done them all many, many times.  I am not getting any notifications on my Charge 3 from my ios 13 iPhone, no matter I do.  The Fitbit always says notifications are up to date.  This is extremely frustrating and I can't seem to find help anywhere.  Anything would be appreciated.
