We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I followed the instructions for my Charge3. It did not work. Still no notification for Message and WhatsApp. Only working for phone call.

Without Message Notification is very inconvenient for me at work.

What setting defaulted to do not disturb? I have a versa and nothing like that comes up when I hold down the single left button. TIA!!

Yay - solved. I was so disappointed that my Versa seemed completely dead today - even though it was fully charged. I updated the app on my phone and it came back to life.

Oh no - it suddenly went black again when I tried to use the timer button. Help.

Actually, it's back not working again. Stuck on the logo screen.
Very frustrating.

I am not aware of any update. Using Android, but no notification as well. I bought one of the most expensive tracker and it has issues ... Good to know..

I went into Notifications under settings and turned on...show previews when I’m unlocked.  I don’t know why I had to do that because that was not how it was set up before the update!

I think I solved it...for me anyways

On my versa Fitbit under settings my do not disturb was “on” and do not disturb while exercising “on”. I turned them both “off”.

I went on the Fitbit app under notification. I turned them all off and on again. In the App notification section I made sure all were “on”.

I shutdown my Fitbit and turned it back on and all seems to be working.

FINALLY!!!!

I have followed these steps several times and I'm still not receiving notifications. I purchased a new Versa Lite and returned it to QVC as it wouldn't work either.  This is most irritating!

If you hold down the left-side button on the Versa, it will bring up ‘Quick Settings’. Do Not Disturb is the button on the top left side that looks like a minus sign in a circle.

I tried everything suggested from Fitbit and nothing is working! Updated iPhone and Fitbit. Deleted the app and downloaded again. Checked my Fitbit is not on Do Not Disturb. I’m so frustrated and disappointed. Any other suggestions?! 😔

I think this must be a software problem. My Versa is completely not working - screen is black. When I plug it in, it sometimes seems to come by to life (with a full battery), but when I put it on the screen either goes to black or shows just the Fitbit logo. I have been very frustrated all day. I'm hoping Fitbit pushes out a fix for this soon. Thankfully, I still have my One, which I am using instead of the Versa, so I'm probably just slightly less frustrated than everyone else.

I don’t have a Versa. I returned it to QVC as defective as texts aren’t working
I have the Blaze.

The annoying thing is both QVC and HSN are doing special promotions per Fitbit stating iPhones work with their watches. Well that is false advertising as they don’t work with any Fitbit since IOS upgrade.
