Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Hi Everyone -

Please help keep this thread on topic and only post about Notifications on iOS 13.

We have found a majority of customers have found when checking notifications settings and setting 'Show Previews' to Alway or When Unlocked

CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications

Additionally, If you are not able to set up All Day Sync and it's preventing notifications, you should remove the tracker from the bluetooth settings and set it up again.

@jabuchan have you tried removing your Versa and setting it up again? You are not on iOS 13 so you shouldn't be experiencing the issues reported in this thread.

Thanks for your help. I now receive notifications again but still no vibration when they are received, or when reach step goal, or doing relaxation breathing. I’ll keep updating all the software in the hope that this will be fully resolved soon.

None of the steps work. Have you seen anyone replying back stating they do work?

All my alerts are working again on my Ionic. I too followed the recommendations and they did not work. So i went to Bluetooth and clicked on “forget this device” and went to the Fitbit app and clicked on “remove this ionic.” Restarted my phone. Went to the Fitbit app and clicked on “set up a device”. My ionic vibrated at 4pm with a calendar alert and it just vibrated when receiving a text. There’s a chance you can skip the Bluetooth part and simply remove the device, restart, and set up a device. I happen to do the Bluetooth thing first. Hope it works for others as well.

@ClaLouT press the left hand side and see screen awake and notifications is illuminated. If it is you can set an alarm and test your vibration. Check out this article

I’ve done all of these steps multiple times and text messages still aren’t displaying. I’ve been months without this feature and it’s disappointing Fitbit would allow this to go on so long.

I have tried multiple times to get my notifications and it still isn't working.  Do we know when this is going to get fixed?  I have had my fitbit for 5 years now and I was going to ask for a new one for Christmas but if it doesn't get fixed I'm going to have to look elsewhere.

I've tried the troubleshooting steps several times now, with no results. Notifications are still not showing up on my Alta HR.

Have there been any other solutions to this problem? Or is this an ongoing issue that is being worked on?

Is there a warranty on this device that i can get a replacement? Or is it something going on with the communication between the Alta HR and the iOS?

Thank you.

I have done these instructions multiple times and still do not receive text message notifications on my Fitbit. I have a Charge 2 but for several months without notifications am thinking to switch to an Apple Watch

Figured it was worth a shot- I too had followed the Fitbit steps more times than I can count. This is also worked for me! Just got a txt notification! Hopefully it lasts and the forthcoming  Fitbit fix doesn’t mess it up again.

But how can you seriously mean that a acceptable solution is to set Previews to Always or When unlocked? I do not want previews on my notifications AT ALL, which worked perfectly fine before I updated to IOS 13. The notification when receiving phone calls does show up, but the vibration never stops when I actually pick up the phone, so I have to press some or all buttons on my Blaze for it to stop vibrating.

That Fitbit hasn’t resolved these issues is really disappointing, and I believe it shows that you don’t take this seriously. If you actually did, you would have found a solution by now. I now unfortunately is on the look out for a new watch, and it’s for sure NOT going to be a Fitbit.

I have done all of this for almost 1 month and still nothing. It would seem this product while catering to Droids should really figure out a way to cater to Apple as well, since so many Apple users have chosen THIS product over one made for them.

I am getting notifications for all other apps as expected BUT my text messaging app. I found that, when I set my text to Always show previews I do get notifications BUT I don’t want previews on my phone. It used to come through on my Fitbit even when my text preview was set to Never. I constantly set my phone down and don’t want people to read my messages - the Fitbit is on my wrist, so it should show the preview if I elect to be notified of an incoming text. This is how it worked before the defect enhancement, this is how I expect it to work after but it’s not.

I followed your instructions and it worked! After months of not receiving any notifications and not getting ANY support from Fitbit (except those lame instructions from April, that do not work at all), I finally have my Versa working again. Thank you so much!

I just updated my software on my iPhone to IOS 13.3 and I am still not receiving text message notifications. I went through and followed all the steps and checked all the places that need to show notifications. This issue started when I did the original IOS 13 update. I am getting all other app notifications on my Versa just not text messages. Please help!

Today my notifications finally started working again. I installed the new Apple update (13.3). Then I reset my Fitbit back to factory setting and deleted and reinstalled the app.
