Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Here is how you fix the problem. Go to settings>notifications>messages then go to the show previews and change to always or when unlocked. Then enjoy receiving your text notifications again.

Mine is still not syncing

I started emailing on the 21st November directly to customer support services and I've finally given up. Followed all steps and advice an unbelievable amount of times. Still nothing.

Thought I'd cracked it last night and got it to sync but within minutes No Device Detected again.

Time displayed says 5.43am when its actually 7.49 am. So not even useful as just a watch.

Every notification is working with the exception of texts. Your punch list does not fix.

None of the steps have worked Charge 3 will not sync with the app on either my iphone xs or my computer.  It doesn't sync anything.  I have repeated all the steps more than once.  The only notifications I'm receiving are reminders to move.  The time on the clock is also 10 minutes off.  When will there be a fix on this?

I have also purchased a new fitbit for someone - will the new one still have the same issues?

My Charge 3 isn't even a year old.  Please help!

@KateFitbit I am sorry, but "assuring " me it won't take years to resolve the issue isn't helping me right now. A lot of users in this chat have done the same exact things i have for multiple rounds and some are now reporting text notifications "randomly" started to work as of recently. I do not believe there is anything random about it - are you pushing some kind of fixes out to some users to see if it works? i didn't even mention in my previous comment the amount of time it took me to get the tracker to sync with my new iphone 11 pro max - in the past it was an easy and quick process, but not anymore. What is going on? if you advertise your product has a feature that makes people got for it instead of other products out there, said feature shouldn't stay broken for over 2 months with no definitive time on when it will get fixed - so far it's only been empty promises.

I agree, the "assuring" me is pretty much wasted words! Even after updating the FitBit app and the most recent iOS update yesterday, there is still no fix for not receiving text messages. How about enough with the "assuring" with steps that are obviously not working and correct the issue that me and everyone else is having with your product.

Good Morning. I have been very frustrated since purchasing my Versa 2. The reason I bought it, is because of the notification features. I have an iPhone 10. I have tried all the troubleshooting and notifications adjustments suggested. Please assist with this.

The only notification I do NOT receive is text messages.  Phone calls, snapchat alerts, Maps, Calendar, FB messenber all work; just not text messaging.  How do I solve this problem.  I keep waiting for an iOS update or a Fitbit update to finally work, so far nothing has.

Mine is the exact same. Receive all other notifications except text, yet my daughter has the same exact watch and received everything to hers and I set it up. The only difference is hers is a 11 pro max and mine is an 11. We changed phones, phone companies also recently and then got new fitbits and nothing has helped mine.

I updated both Fitbit software and the latest iOS update. I also ran through all the troubleshooting steps more than 3 times in your article above. Notifications from text messages are STILL NOT working. It’s been like this for more than 2 months. I might just switch to an Apple Watch at this point because that feature is extremely important for me to multitask. Any help would be appreciate. (Charge 3).

Hello and welcome @ronigeebo

I understand your frustration with notifications issues. I’m moving your post here:https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Stopped-seeing-notifications-after-updating-to-iOS-13/m-p/39...

Please follow all the steps carefully found on page one of this thread. If any further information becomes available for the notifications issue you will find it there.

The problem is with Fitbit, I tried connecting on my PC and tried all the options they have for connecting to Bluetooth devices no luck, but Windows found all types of other devices but not Fitbit. It is not an iOS 13 problem.

Any chance we might get an eta confirming this will be fixed? I’m sure many of have started to rely on notifications especially for work so if it isn’t going to work we just need to know and work up an alternative option.

Sadly it doesn't work. Even though I upgraded IOS to 12.4.4 and Fitbit App to 312 (913). I don't know what broke things. If it was the IOS or Fitbit App upgrade. I no longer can see any App preview message. However, if I swipe down the screen on the Fitbit Versa, I can see all the notifications there. Can Fitbit do something about displaying the notification on the actual screen and not to be, somehow, hidden? It really lacks its functionality being a Smart device. Help!!!

Agreed. About 2-3 months not being able to get notifications is not worth staying with this product anymore. Seriously, a solution should have been made by now.

I have tried this “resolution” 5+ times with no success.
With the new update I am able to see my notifications if I swipe down but no vibration to alert me. One of the reasons I bought a Versa after my Blaze died was because I love not having to have my phone by me all the time to see who is calling/texting - to say I’m frustrated with this process would be an understatement.
Considering selling my Versa to first buyer and getting an Apple Watch.
Please please Fitbit, HELP US OUT HERE!!!

Contacted Support again today and still no answer.  I've tried all the suggestions and still no answer.  I was told it was an issue with Fitbit and they are working on it still.   My Fitbit loses connection with my phone and I have to manually sync it.   It does not always work.  I was given no other option but to wait until the issue was resolved
