Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Agree. Tried these steps repeatedly,

Doesn’t work for charge 2 or 3 and my iphone 7 or for my daughter who had a charge 3 and an iphone X.

I tried every single thing on these feeds on my fitbit blaze. I loved my fitbit, but honestly, after months of not receiving text notifications, oh and not only that, the call notifications would continue to vibrate on my wrist annoyingly as I spoke on the phone (and even if it was a number I dialed out to) while on the phone. It was basically unusable. Even the heart rate monitor wasn't working half the time anymore. I don't know whats going on but you lost a customer. You had the potential to be a great product. I would have bought another updated version. Thankfully, I received an Apple watch for Christmas and it does all I need it to do now where you failed. I have a heart monitor, an ECG, text and call notifications that I can actually reply to and answer, only setback was it didnt track sleep. But there was an app for that! Fitbit you should have caught up...

Shouldn’t have to do this tho to get msgs....it was not like this before

Worked for my Versa 2 too!!

Clarification- turning on “always” in message options, show previews. I can now see text messages on my Fitbit.

I agree with others. Shouldn't have to do this as we have never had to do it before. I am not compromising my privacy by setting text preview on just to have texts sent to my wrist.

Turning on the Show Previews Always for text messages now works for me too (doesn’t work using the “When unlocked” option).  But Fit Bit please fix this because users should not have to have the content of text messages visible in order to get notifications! I don’t consider the issue resolved.

Mine is set to always show previews and I am still getting nothing.

I’ve tried every step 5 times... and I still cannot receive text messages on my versa. I can receive calls and app notifications, but not text messages. My Fitbit app is up to date and so is my iOS software. Any other suggestions?

RESOLVED!!!

Went into Fitbit app under account and “Remove this Inspire HR” set it up again and it all worked 🙂

Hopefully it works for others!!

Notifications were working fine and stopped with the latest update.  Tried these steps multiple times with no resolution.  Very frustrating!

Go to settings, notifications, Fitbit, Show previews, check always or when unlocked. That’s the only way I’m getting text notifications now.

The “quick reply” feature does not work with iPhone, never has, only Android. It was explained to me that Apple has a lot of proprietary software, doesn’t “play nice” with a lot of other devices.

But, we should be getting notifications for calls, texts, emails, etc.

I went to iPhone settings, Bluetooth, charge 3, “information,” (i,) clicked “forget device,” re-paired, and it seems to be working again. Although texts to myself aren’t working yet, I’ll see when someone else texts me.

Hallelujah! MarnieJean's  solution worked for me for Charge 3 & iPhone SE.  Went to Settings, Bluetooth, Charge 3, “information” (i,) click “forget device,” & repaired.  I have been racking my brain over this issue.  I tried everything from Fitbit troubleshooting tips to no avail.
