Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I bought a brand new. Charge 3 as my chrge 2 stopped receiving text messages only. I still can see phone calls and calendar reminders.

I have ried all the suggestions and the only thing different is I have an iPhone XR now. Totally frustrating.

Hello,

I’ve tried these steps every day a couple of times since I did the update.

What are the current plans to fix this problem? Cause obviously these steps aren’t working for everyone...

Thanks

I’m getting the calls and calendar updates as well. But no notifications on texts and messages.

I hope the problem is resolved soon!

Very disappointed in Fitbit. Have done everything support has asked multiple times. Nothing has changed. No one has offered me a refund... just very poor IT/customer support.  This is not a cheap device to buy and when you can’t get notifications to your watch (main reason for purchase) it makes your $200 purchase a complete waste. I am no longer a Fitbit fan or customer and I make sure to tell my friends to stat away from fitbits as well.

On approx. 1/16/20, Fitbit Support checked my Charge 3 from their end.  They told me they verified that it was syncing (I already knew that).  I was told to wait for the next update, they are still trying to solve this issue.  From reading earlier posts on this topic, there have been several updates already. I don't see why they can't just fix it.

This is incredibly frustrating! I have the Fitbit Charge HR but just purchased the Fitbit Versa Lite hoping that notifications would return with this one- nope! I’ve done all the stepson my own and with Customer Service and I’m about ready to return it. Why can’t they figure this out?

My new charge 3 was activated on 1/15/2020. I am trying to pair it with an iPhone 6 with iOS13.3. Since the 15th I have tried everyday to get the devices to pair. I have followed all the directions at least 5 times and had my husband try as well. All the settings are correct in my phone. I am a long time Fitbit owner, starting with the Charge then upgrading to an Alta that paired very well with my phone. This is very frustrating to me and I'm about to return this Charge3 and switch to a different brand.

So it somehow was fixed! Something to try is going to your settings- going to notifications, making sure you see Notification Styles in all caps and then playing around with the fitbit app and your messages that way. Worked for me.

Sooo is it still notifying text messages?

I figured it out!!!  I have iPhone 7 plus.  in setting click on notifications.  Then scroll down to Fitbit under notification styles.  Under Alerts you see "Lock Screen, "Notification Center," and "Banners."  Make sure all of those are checked.  Then press the back arrow to go back.  Scroll down to messages and make sure all three are checked there.  Then it worked!!  My next text message showed on my Fitbit.

Before doing this I noticed my "Notification Center" was not checked.  That was my problem.  Please make sure all are checked under Fitbit and Messages.  I hope this helps all of you because this was so frustrating and I was ready to return my Fitbit.  Please let me know if this helps you.  If this helps please send it to as many people as you can.

Keep us up to date on this. After a couple hours

But is it showing a preview of the actual text message? Cuz there’s a short half **ahem** fix where you can ‘show previews’ and I’m not forfeiting my privacy. Like fitbit needs to fix their **ahem** together and fix their glitch

I’ve had a Versa 2 for a year now and never have been able to receive text messages. Been round and round with tech support and read all these threads until my eyes fell out. Fitbit doesn’t have a solution and I’m convinced it was a design issue that can’t be resolved.
