I have been using Fitbit to track my runs for years now. Just last week I noticed when I use the app and change the activity type from walk to run, after I complete my runs it reverts it back to a walk. First time I thought it was my error but it has been doing this for over a week now. I like using the GPS map to track my runs so I can see the map when I am finished. Anyone else have this issue or a solution to fix it?

Best Answermy inspire 2 is logging my run as a walk, it’s not tracking sleep or heart rate properly.
im also pinged daily by the app to tell me in something like 59,684 steps over my daily goal (when I’m not) it seems to come up with a random number every day and I haven’t noticed a pattern linking it to my step goal
Hey Bobby, what’s up? I’ll see if I can get you started
Best AnswerHello Juan.
Thanks for the question @Mdday
How are you doing ?
I’m kind new here in the community.
I have been using my Sense 2 for over a year now and in my experience the bug happen on and off.
For me, I start the exercise on the watch/device, selecting the type of activity ( today for instance was strength training and running ).
But now that I wanted to check the stats and numbers all activities were recorded as a walk.
This is really frustrating. It kinda invalidates the whole point of having a good device to track workouts if it does not record properly.
Can you share more on the actions/corrections being taken regarding this issue @JuanFitbit ?
Best regards
Fabio B

I’m having this problem too and my iPhone is a 12 pro max with iOS 17.4.1. This issue is very frustrating because it’s tracking my runs as walks! It first had me thinking that my pace was just too slow to “count” as a run, which is not true.
This is a known problem by Fitbit. I spoke with the customer services team who informed me they were addressing in a new update. However, the problem persists.
Not only are runs recorded as walks, the split times are incorrect, recording slower times than actual. I didn’t realise this at first and was pushing hard on my runs, to bring my times down to how they used to be. That elevated my and my friends’ heart rates quite significantly and was quite dangerous, so the lesson is to trust your body (or a Garmin) not a Fitbit.
The really disappointing thing though is the silence from Fitbit. No proactive communication, no alerts, no regular updates on a problem affecting a huge proportion of their client base. A loyal client base that is now starting to drift away.
Do better Fitbit. You’re breaking your brand.
Even three years later I still get tears in my eyes thinking about Google buying Fitbit in 2021. They simply don't care, and that has been proven over and over again. It has only been sheer laziness that I haven't gotten a Garmin but I might pull off that bandage the next time.
Thanks, Laurie...
This was my problem, exactly. So, yeah... now I know how to label my future Walks (not Runs!). But, I do wonder why I found that I couldn't edit the previous Runs to Walks. Oh well.. It's really not a big deal, but I do wonder. 😉
Thanks again...
I’ve been upset ever since my Charge 5 stopped working when it got wet.
Trying to figure out what to do next and since the app keeps messing up, I’ve decided to try a Garmin. Ordered it from Amazon, so if I don’t like it I’ll return it.
I’ve been happy with Fitbit but with all the drama lately, maybe it’s time to try something new.
I really do hope that Fitbit (or should I say their parent company) gets their act together and returns to the days when Fitbit was a good, quality product.
I asked about it in the chat and was told: "we're building abstracts to bring more openness and collaboration into the workflow, and we're so glad you're on the journey with us." So that's a fun step forward (read fun as sarcasm)
