Using my Fitbit AND iWatch.

Good Morning,

I received an iWatch from my husband for Christmas but I LOVE my fitbit.  I still prefer moving around using my Fitbit Charge HR.  If I where one for half a day and sync it using mobile activity tracker... then use my Fitbit for my actual workouts and sleep will it maintain the data for both?  Or will it look at only one sync?

Any other thoughts on how I can co-exist with both would be helpful.  Thank you.

Hello @IviAG and welcome!, it's great to have you on board. Smiley Happy

Currently the Fitbit app is not compatible with the Apple Watch and if you use it to count your steps, these steps will not get added to daily data on the Fitbit app. However, if you don't use your Charge HR frequently but you have your phone with you, it's possible to install MobileTrack so the sensors of your phone can monitor your data.

To add MobileTrack on the Fitbit app:

  1. Check if your phone is compatible
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap on the Account tab.
  3. Select + Set up a New Device
  4. Tap MobileTrack and follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

MobileTrack will count your steps, calories, distance and Active minutes and will be added to your daily count. Additionally,  you can use both MobileTrack and your tracker at the same time, this will not duplicate the data, instead, it will complement it.

I hope this information can be useful, feel free to reply in case you need anything else! Smiley Wink

Hello is the Apple Watch compatible with the Fitbit app? I’m worried I won’t be able to easily compete in challenges if I stop using my Fitbit, which I enjoy using.

Hello @vtatum91, thanks for joining the conversation, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to the Fitbit Community. Smiley Happy

Unfortunately, the Fitbit app is only compatible with Fitbit trackers and not with the Apple Watch. As mentioned above, you can always setup MobileTrack in the Fitbit app. MobileTrack data also counts towards challenges and it's a great companion for your Fitbit tracker in case you forget to wear it one day.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply. Smiley Wink

This is so dumb that Fitbit doesn't have an app for the iWatch. We aren't going to want to take our phones to track ourselves during our walks or exercise routines. And I personally don't want to wear 2 different devices. I received an iWatch as a gift and would LOVE LOVE LOVE an app for Fitbit on it.

Thanks

YES to this. I know Fitbit makes their money off the wearable and not the app access but I think they need to consider an option for iWatch users who want to connect in with the Fitbit community.

FitBit. I’ve been a user of the FitBit since 2014. I’m addicted to the device, app, and all of it’s functionality. This device has got me off my duff and moving everyday for quite a while! However, I am buying an iWatch today. My only delay in buying the Apple product was the lack of compatibility between your product and the iWatch. I would have looked at the comparable FitBit product but the funcitonality is not comparable. So I’m going for the competitor.

I have an idea. I’m sure your decision to not allow FitBit users to integrate their experience with the iWatch is an economic one, knowing that, why don’t you work on an inapp purchase scheme. I think all of us FitBit freaks would gladly spend a few bucks to enjoy our iWatch while also feeding our addiction to the best fitness tracker out there. Come on FitBit!!! Make your FitBit fanatics happy!!!

Hello @ChrisClark, I hope you're doing well, thanks for joining the conversation. Smiley Happy

We really appreciate our members's input and feedback and I would like to thank you for yours, however at this moment there aren't currently plans to release a dedicated app for the Apple Watch or integrate the Apple Watch data to the Fitbit app. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released here in our FAQs.

Thanks for all your patience and understanding, at this moment I will close this thread but you can check this suggested idea our team left open for votes to keep monitoring its demand.

Happy stepping!
