Your sleep tracking just got more accurate

If you’ve noticed that your sleep stages, sleep time and awake time have changed recently, you’re seeing our latest improvement in action. This is the first step in a series of upcoming improvements to improving our sleep tracking — so stay tuned to hear about these changes as soon as they happen.

We understand that changes in your data can be surprising and appreciate your feedback.

What changed?

We've updated our tracking technology. This is to provide a more precise measurement of your sleep stages. Our goal is to always give you the clearest and most accurate view of your health.

For example, you may see your awake time increase slightly as we now capture brief awakenings the old system missed. This is a normal part of sleep.

What this means for you

The sleep data you see now is a more accurate reflection of your night's rest. This more detailed data will help you better understand how your body is recovering each night.

We appreciate you being such an engaged member of our community.

Please note that these changes only rolled out to users of the following devices:

Smartwatches: Versa Lite, Versa 1, Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense 1, Sense 2, Pixel Watch 1, Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4

Trackers: Alta HR, Inspire HR, Inspire 2, Inspire 3, Luxe, Charge 2, Charge 3, Charge 4, Charge 5, and Charge 6

Could be premature here but it sure seems like the sleep settings/algorithms have been relaxed some like it's been for the first nine years I've owned a Fitbit device. The past 3 days have all been better. And when I delete an old sleep set (this month, last month etc), and then add back in the exact same times, the numbers are all better than before I deleted it. (Not getting hammered for each movement I make while still sleeping.) Hopefully this is not just a glitch thing. I haven't tried switching to sensitive mode to see what happens (don't want to mess up a good thing) but I might try that which would confirm the normal settings are back and working. Hopefully.

I have also given up on mine, worked for a week or so but then stopped again. Heartbeat recording does not record at all so that was not fixed either.

Good Morning,

Sleeping Heart Rate option no longer available, as of this morning.

Just a gremlin, or being removed?

And just like that, it has reappeared! 🙂

One thing that’s happened to me three times in the past week is that it misses a chunk and I have to edit which I always used to do successfully,  but now when I put in the proper start time it doesn’t update the graph and shows all the time I added as asleep time which it is not. Been wearing Fitbit for 14 years but  I am sadly going to have to leave Fitbit if this doesn’t improve.
