Update 9/17/2019: We have released iOS app version 3.6.1 to all users. Please update your app to this version. It is recommended to all experiencing continuous crashes and should resolve this issue.

Hi Everyone - I've merged several posts together.

We're aware of an issue that may cause some iOS users to experience a continuous crash when trying to open the app after updating to version 3.6.

To resolve this, please try to uninstall and reinstall the app from the app store. Even if you have tried this previously, please try again.

If this does not work, our team is working to resolve it and hope to have a fix soon. Be sure to keep your Fitbit device and app up-to-date to ensure you receive the quickest resolution.

We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track.

Yes, I am one iOS  user that this issue has affected.  I have read that uninstalling and reinstalling has not worked, so I haven’t done so. My question is this, if that would have worked, does this mean that everything I’ve accomplished, from day one would be lost? That doesn’t seem to be right for our achievements, friends, various communities joined, and everything else involved with the Fitbit account to be lost after all the effort that went into them to just be nonexistent anymore! Not cool at all Fitbit! This is very disappointing!!

I was having the same issues and updated the app, which resolved the problem. Uninstalling the app said I would lose all my data.

No. Reinstalling the app shouldn't lose any data. As your fitbit data has all been synced to the fitbit servers. Those will be restored next time you reinstall the app and login using your fitbit account.

Will I lose my old data if I uninstall and reinstall the app?

When I start to delete the app I’m warned I’ll loose my data. So...I guess I’ll wait till a fix is ready. Suggest you check updates in various platforms prior to release rather than the “hit and miss” style

Some say no...that the data is stored on the Fitbit servers and once you log in again it will sync. I just went to the App Store and updated the app which resolved the issue

I am also having a problem with the app.  I can't get it to open.  I have re-installed the app about 5 nor 6 times with no luck.  I have only been using my fitbit for about 3 weeks and I love it but it's useless without the app.  Please help.

Thanks,

1self,

So far (knock on wood), I have been able to use the Fitbit app after this update; however it no longer syncs with my weight watchers app. I’ve tried following the posted fix for this (removing WW from third party apps in Fitbit and adding back Fitbit to the WW app) but now the WW app isn’t recognized as a third party app in my Fitbit account even after going through this procedure. Is this related to the update issues?

How about sending out another update that will take us all back to the previous (working) version while you debug this?

They fixed it in the App Store. I just did another update and it’s back up!

The re-install method is working today - they must have patched it. All your activities, data and groups etc. are stored on their servers under your account. If you delete the app and reinstall it. As long as you know your username/ email and password to log back in - you’ll find everything will be back and waiting for you. No data lost ... hope this helps?
