When I put my Alta to charge it started to get hot and suddenly stopped working. I have only had it a few months and follow the clean and care tips well. I have tried resetting it but anytime I put it on the charger it starts to heat up. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there any way to get this fixed or would I have to get it replaced?

Today I got the email saying my Alta needed to charge, so I plugged it in to my laptop to charge. When I went to check it, it was extremely hot, and now it is not working at all. I cannot get it to reset or do anything. Please help!

I am now on my 3rd alta in just over a year. All have gone the same way-hot when charging and then wont respond. I have contacted fitbit and all have been replaced, but this is not the issue-are these safe and do they have an inherent charging fault? Has anyone solved it? I have moved from charging off USB on wall to laptop but same problem

I have had 2 fitbits replaced due to tgis issue and im really unhappy and do not want to risk it a 3rd time. It heats up so much you cant even touch it. I would like an answer as to why?

Like you I am now on my 3rd Alta. Despite my questions never got a reason given-just a replacement. Doing ok with my present one so hopefully something has been sorted.

My Alta appears to have done the same thing today, it was low on battery so I plugged it into my computer to charge, went to a meeting and came out an hour later to a hot fitbit that won't turn on.
I've tried the reset steps which flash up the logo and show the version number but it still won't turn on when it's tapped and the mobile app can't connect to it.

I had the same thing issue as others a week ago on vacation with my Alta HR. Charged overnight and when I went to put it on was almost hot enough to burn my skin. Waited to get with Fitbit until I got back and went through all the testing, online chat and they basically said it out of warranty and I'm out of luck. 18-19 months old and its dead. Common problem based on the community and they've done nothing to fix the problem. Family has bought 5 different models
@AliM21 wrote:Same thing happened to my Alta this morning!! So hot after 20 mins I almost burnt myself. Never had a problem before.
Won't do a restart either. Has anyone managed to resolve this ? Have tried customer support. Will wait and see.
Lost without it though
over the last couple of years. Guess its time to look elsewhere.

I've had my fitbit for a couple years. For the first time yesterday, it started getting hot while charging and won't come on. What did you have to do to get yours replaced?
