Ever since I did the update I've noticed my Alta all of a sudden shuts off with no warning. Every time the battery is on yellow but not dead. I get nothing on the screen and it stops syncing. I mainly use it for phone or text notifications so not having it working with no warning is a problem. I am able to restart it by plugging it in. But that option is not always available. It never did that before the update. Now I regret doing the update.

I’m having the exact same issue.

Has this problem been resolved? My Alta is doing this turning itself off and not coming back on unless I attach it to the charger. Loses time when it's off and no tracking. Has plenty of battery power before I plug it back in.

Yeah, still having issues. Now it isn't keeping track of my steps right. Fairly frustrated as I've tried numerous things to fix it. Fitbit isn't offering any actual assistance. At first, they said there was nothing they could do since I didn't have the original charger...so I bought a new one from them. Once I did that, they still didn't really help, because I'm out of warranty (shocking). They did offer a 25% discount on a new product...which was only for 30 days. I'm fairly certain that Fitbit is done with the Alta but they just won't admit it...which is the problem as far as I'm concerned.

My Fitbit Alta has been turning off randomly and the battery is full! The only way to turn it back on is to plug it into the charger. It’s very inconvenient. $85 dollars is a lot to pay for something to have it not work right roughly 6 months into the purchase.

Count me in as yet another person having this problem. Sounds like a firmware/software issue to me--what is Fitbit doing to fix it? I'm not going to buy another one if my tracker can be killed by the company pushing out a bad update. Sounds like planned obsolescence to me.

My Alta syncs but all it shows in calories, no steps or sleep. Tried all the fix stuff, no better.

I will escalate as I am annoyed at this breakdown. Not working since it changed to discovery. No warning of change or option to keep old screen!

Mine is basically done...shuts off when it's off the charger like everyone else's seems to...I've tried many solutions. I'm angry that they aren't doing anything...I've put the word out to my friends who've gotten moved to other things (not naming other brands). I have accessories so I want an Alta that works at least for a time...Sorry, venting right now.

My Fitbit Alta is also shutting off when I have charge showing and have not received low battery notifications. It vibrates as if I’ve reached target amount of steps before it does this. It has done this numerous times. I have just tried to contact customer support via email and been then told there is an issue and I am unable to do this. Not sure if my Fitbit is still in warranty. Please advise.

They should if you're still in warranty. I'm not...

"however, ..., materials that these trackers are made of also reach its limit."
This is teetering in to a known failure mode that FitBit won't do a recall on. Would this be allowed if it was a car?
Unacceptable. Perhaps Garmin, Toobur, Wesoo, Xiaomi will offer more reliable products.

@LiliyaFitbit_ I am also having this issue with my Alta. It does it randomly but mainly after I hit my goal (fireworks go off, Alta shuts down).... Knowing mine is a few months out of Warranty I ordered a new Alta via Amazon because I can't get them anywhere else. Brand new in the box, set up fine, no issues. Fully charged, hit my goal, fireworks SHUT DOWN!!!
This is an issue with the Alta itself. It's either a hardware or firmware problem and I for one think it's horrible that you guys are blowing this off and just offering a 25% discount on a new product - SHAME ON YOU! This is a defect in your product and the company should be standing behind the issue and providing a solution without cost to the customer.
Sorry, I am returning the new Alta, when I get my refund I will apply it towards a new Garmin. After everything that I've seen going on with fitbit the last year or so I am moving on. It's been an interesting ride, but your products and support have degraded to the point where I just can't see pumping any more of my hard earned cash into a looming disaster.
