Won't turn on

I was at the gym walking on the treadmill when I was on the Fitbit app and I decided to change the clock face. Ever since then the app just says looking and I've plugged it in and tried everything I possibly can but it will not turn on

Thanks, Sylvia. We bought an Alta, and upon the first charging, the unit did vibrate, and the screen lit up. However, the clip broke right after that, so the unit couldn’t charge.

Fitbit sent a new charger after we sent a request, and now we’ve clipped it on correctly and pressed the restart button three times as directed. The screen is not lighting up or responding in any way. I’ve changed charger boxes and plugs and every other thing I can think of. It’s odd, since the unit did work when we first got it, but no response now.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

My Fitbit Alta has been used for about 4 months. It is now dead!

Charging shows no display, no vibration. I have followed those steps but not able to revive it.

I measure the charging pin which has 5V. So the charger is working. I also clean the contact with cotton bar to ensure no dirt and good contact. The Fitbit Alta still has no response after charging for hours. What can I do? Should I contact the customer service and send it for repair?

I received the new charger you sent out and the clip works just fine. Now, however, the unit is not responding in any way to bring plugged in. I pressed the reset button three times as directed in the instructions and tried that several times with no result. With the original charger that broke the unit did vibrate and the screen lit up the first time I plugged it in, but hasn’t done so since that charger broke nor with this new charger.

Hey there @r12penelope@scoll28@Ruth39 and @DanielMui. Yes, when you're performing a restart you should press the button on the charging cable. I appreciate the troubleshoot that you've followed in order to fix the display issue you're having.

I would like you to confirm you've performed the restart following these tips. Also, double check you're properly charging it

Welcome aboard @Jailee

Let me help you with your inquiry, below you can see the picture of where you can find this button. If your charging cable doesn't have it I recommend getting one from the Fitbit online store.

I do not have a factory charger for my Alta because it broke.  I need to do a resart but do not have the button at the end of the charger.  Any way I can do a restart without it?

Welcome aboard @RKWilson

Thanks for sharing your inquiry, to restart your tracker the charging cable will need to have the button, that's the only way to restart it. Let me know why you need to restart it maybe we could try something different.

Looking forward to your reply!

My Aria will not hold a charge more than a couple of days so I thought a restart might help. Any suggestions?

Several of us are having the same problem, ironically, post warranty period. They suggest doing a restart, but nothing seems to work. Very sad that this is considered a disposable item!!

Hi there,

I see the same error message - v.21.40.02

I have tried the reset as you mention but it still does not work. It works when plugged in but if I leave it to go to “sleep” it will not come back on until I plug it back in. I have updated the app and deleted the Alta from my phone and started again, but still the same issue.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

I have tried every suggestion posted on this website by moderators and even checked Youtube looking for help with mine, as are hundreds of other users. I bought new charging cords "just in case" (by the way Amazon sells a two pack WITH a reset button for $7.99, one is 1' long and the other is 3' long.  Mine finally died on Sunday, even after an all day charge as soon as I unplug it it's dead again.  My husband bought me an Apple Watch instead of spending money on something that I'll probably have to throw away again in a year or two (or less).  Good luck Alta family.  Peace out.

I have had the same issue. I actually did the live chat thing to give them a fair chance. Tonight they have come back and said I need to take a video of it not charging and write a hand written letter saying it doesn't work. I have proof of purchase AND the serial number. WTF. Fitbit is a terrible product. It doesn't work OFF THE SHELF. That is UNHEARD OF for reputable electronic brands. Buyers BEWARE of Fitbit!!
