Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

I'll let you know if I receive any additional information on this matter.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

When I activated my Pixel 3 XL on Wednesday the app synced perfectly for exactly 24 hours then went back to having issues.

The next day there was an update to the Fitbit app but it did nothing to improve things.

Hi

I'm on the OnePlus 6 and using Android 9.0. I haven't been able to sync my Fitbit flex2 to the app since sepSeptem 28th. I keep getting Bluetooth errors. While I have written to Fitbit and they have not been able to offer a solution they did however say my phone is not a compatible device. After years of using Fitbit it's disappointing that Fitbit has not resolved this sync issue

Can someone help?

Thank you

Just in the exact same situation. Very disappointing.

This worked also on mine Oneplus6/Versa. Thank you 😊

Also worked on OnePlus6 and Charge 2. Seems stable enough for now.

Just updated my Nokia 7 plus to android 9 and found out it wasn't syncing with my fitbit Versa again.

I tried to repair, restarted my phone, restarted my fitbit, reïnstalled the app..

Nothing seems to work...

if anyone knows the solution I would really love to hear it as I really love(d) my Versa

Thanks so much for the suggestion, so I first uninstalled the Fitbit app
on my phone, then went to Bluetooth paired devices on my phone and
disconnected the flex 2 (click on forget device)... Then installed the app
again logged in and it asked me to turn on location permission without
which it won't sync so I clicked on that and I tried to sync again and it
worked! My flex 2 synced after 3 weeks! Hope this helps some of you, thank
you for all your responses and suggestions!

Fitbit Flex 2 will not sync on Android 9 Pie on OnePlus 6 over Bluetooth. Have attempted turning Bluetooth on/off, attempting to sync in Fitbit app, toggling to Bluetooth settings and syncing device, clearing Bluetooth cache and re-attempting to sync.

**Fitbit team - please sort this issue.**

It's really poor that an OS that has been available since August to developers still isn't compatible with your devices, rendering the use of Fitbit for Android users on the latest OS useless. Resolvinf this issue should come before enhanced features - my Fitbit Flex 2 is redundant to me until you fix the software. These things don't happen on iOS for iPhone users...

Reminder for Oneplus 6 users. The solution was given a few days ago: 1- Uninstall the fitbit app. 2- Connect the phone with the tracker in the bluetooth parameters. if you see the tracker but can't connect to it, delete it from your phone and add it again. 3- Remove the tracker again. 4- Install the app. 5- Connect to it and now it is running. 😉

This problem continues each day for me.  I am able to get synced by restarting my phone every morning and it stays synced all day but looses sync every night.  I hope that helps solve it.  I have a charge 2 with a Google Pixel II XL running Pie.

I have updated my app again, but my Fitbit flex still will NOT sync with my Google pixel running 9pie! The only way I can force a sync is to do a soft reset of the flex (pushing a paperclip through the reset hole in the charger). It will only remain synced for about 5 minutes. The app says device not found. My phone says unable to communicate with flex. So very frustrated!

Hello everyone.

We truly appreciate your patience through this situation.

I'd like to report that there have been no updates at the time. If you have access to another phone or computer you can try to sync there for the time being. Click here to get instructions on how to sync with other devices.

Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

The patience is gone. There is little need to appreciate it.

Yes, there is something else you can help with. Can you recommend a competitor's product that can be carried in a pocket like the Fitbit One, but with an actual, functioning sync to a flagship Android phone?

Any information about what the problem is?

So, given that this issue has been ongoing for literally months at this point, if and when you ever resolve it- what kind of compensation can affected users expect? Through no fault of our own, our devices (the majority of which I would imagine are still under warranty/protection) are effectively non-functional. I would hope that we would receive some kind of apology and good-faith compensation for your flawed platform.

@LanuzaFitbit  Can you please elaborate on "no updates"? Have the developers recreated the problem at all? Have they TRIED? Is this simply that you (I'm assuming your job involves outreach and not development) aren't getting any updates from the developers?

If this is a situation where it's been established that the issue is on the Android side, and you have no updates from Google, please tell us that. If you know for a fact that the developers can't recreate this (I'd be shocked if they couldn't, though), please tell them to look through this discussion and post any questions.

If this is ANYTHING ELSE (Either the development team isn't trying or isn't telling you anything), this should be escalated to upper management. As can be seen here, you have a collection of vocal and upset users...but you also have a larger silent unhappy community who aren't posting here, but aren't thrilled with having a useless device.
