Android Fitbit app not tracking food and calories intake

I've had an issue for a few months now where my logged food doesnt accurately show up on the main screen icon, and instead have to open the full food log to view my calories.

Starting yesterday, the food log is not displaying my calories at all after adding them. Hours later, they might show up, along with all my other attempts to log my food. It's been a mess, and I've had to resort to just writing it all down.

Customer Support told me to log out, restart my phone, log back in, and try logging. That didn't work. Then they said to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. That didn't work either. I'm still having this issue today, and it's quite frustrating because it's like the main thing I use this app for.

Is this some bug that just needs addressed in an update? My app is up to date, having an update done two days ago. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I would like to add that this only seems to affect the quick calories input. Any specific measured food I add seems to show right up, but since I use quick calories throughout most of the day, I cant accurately track my food anymore.

Dear @Cwazykitty, if you have version 3.59.1 and have created even one custom food since this update then you're stuck regarding the food features of the app.

Your custom food hasn't been created in the fitbit backend at all because the app does it incorrectly (for details see technical analysis)

From this point on every time you try to log food the first thing the app tries to do is to create your custom food again and fails. So no food gets logged in the fitbit backend at all 😕

Thus, the dashboard will never show the correct calories count.

Way too long.  I make custom food all the time so logging my food in here is useless.  I can enter it as quick calories but that means I have no idea what my macros are.

I started using another app.  I still enter everything on here too in the hopes that it will get fixed but it's been a couple months and nothing has been fixed. 🙄

I'm having the same issue that others have reported. I can't see how many calories I've eaten unless I go into my food log. This is one of the features I use a lot so it's irritating not to be able to see the total on my main screen. I've tried logging out, rebooting and logging back in even though it sounds like this hasn't worked for anyone. Worse, after I did that, I lost any food I'd entered for the last 3 days. Really?!? I hope this is fixed soon.

It's super inconvenient but I've started logging all my food on the website version. When I do this, it translates over to the mobile app okay...but I'd really like one source point instead of having to utililze two different devices to log calories/exercise.

I've been having the same food logging issue this week. I enter all my meals and it's not updating on the main screen. I've tried restarting my phone, waiting overnight to see if app updates, and nothing has worked. It's frustrating because I rely on this food log, calories in and out to keep me honest. Please Help!

update: I've seen now the latest posts about adding new products and how easy the fix is. What the hell is this company doing?

Hi, I've done all the steps recommended to fix the problem TWICE, and it helps only temporarily. The issues include: broken adding of new products, not showing the correct calories added that day, not syncing with the web and win10/11 app, changing the total calories logged randomly, etc. It's outrageous that a fix of something that used to work relatively well takes so much time - it's been many weeks already. When are you planning to release a decent patch?

same here. reinstalling works for maybe 12hrs... probably my first and last fitbit watch

The FitBit team should be very concerned that people are turning their backs on them due to a simple bug which drags on for a very long time now. This is so sad since the hardware and the fitbit ecosystem is really decent and worth its money in my opinion. Up to version 3.58 things were working as expected but version 3.59.1 introduced the bug analysed here.

Please dear @LizzyFitbit forward the analysis to your dev team and get things done 😊 Thanks!

Better yet, forward to the CEO of Fitbit who is most likely unaware that customer care and service may be a tad underwhelming at present.

EDIT: Co-founder and CEO of Fitbit Mr. James Park is on Twitter "@parkjames".

If an update makes things worse, it wasn't much of an update.  UNDO is a perfectly acceptable solution for your app on your side of things.  I have no intention of losing data from years of using your products.   If it is broken don't break it.

It is extremely frustrating.  It comes across as if big companies do this sort of stuff to force people to buy the newer version when there is still alot of life in what we have already paid for.

The only solution I have found is to go back to the previous version 3.58. Please note that you will lose all food entries you have logged after you first created a custom food in version 3.59.1. Installing the previous version can be done via Aptoide for example.

I have had same issue only since using my new versa 2. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and now all food logged since using the versa 2 (past month) has disappeared. No data at all, all custom food entered has disappeared too.

Mine is so erratic that sometimes I can't tell if it logged anything or not. I attempted to log my breakfast and lunch for today, last night when I was getting them ready. I logged 6 things for breakfast and 7 for lunch. Plus logged some chicken for dinner so that's 14 total things I logged last night for today. When I got up this morning only 2 of those were showing up. I am going to my fitness pal. Two months is way past reasonable. I wonder if Samsung has a smart watch type device?

I am having the same issue! I logged some stuff on Monday and on Wednesday I realized the info wasn't showing on the home screen (gave me the start logging message) but when I click it showed logged meals. I did the whole Uninstall, reinstall thing and all it did was delete everything I logged for the last 2 days. I logged again and it still isn't showing up. At this point I'm looking at other apps but they all have annoying ads. This is very annoying!

Deleted just the custom foods created in the app and not showing on the web https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.> Favorites > Edit my foods

Logged out from the app, reset the phone and logged back in the app.

Now the dashboards in the app and web page show updated food tiles.

(I lost only the food recorded since I updated to version 3.59.1 in late May)

The Nutrients content in the app is still way off.

I have found a similar issue. Randomly the app will stop showing calories on the icon, then when opening the long form, the math and macros are definitely not correct. I have found that when adding a custom food, it shows the correct calories under the meal portion, but not in the graphic wheel, nor in your total consumed calories. I have done all the force stop fixes, updates, log outs, restarts.... none of it works.

I use ths app to accurately track calorie intake and macros TO LOSE WEIGHT and this is very detrimental to my efforts. As someone with insulin resistance, your app is REALLY Messing with my weight and health because it's not calculating correctly. I didn't figure this out until I gained 5 lbs and couldn't figure out why. So..... when will this be fixed, if ever? I'm 30bseconds away from ditching fitbit as it seems there is nothing but problems lately

Update: after updating the firmware it worked for a few days then stopped working.

I now use Myfitnesspal which worked well for a couple of days but the food logged on MFP no longer syncs with Fitbit app. Everything else seems to sync fine....steps, exercise, calories etc.  Issue is only with the Fitbit app, syncing on browser is working correctly.

I share the same frustrations as everyone else. I could list all the faults here but I do not have the time in the day to help Fitbit do their job and fix their issues. This is not what I signed up for and not what I am paying for. I will be seeking compensation for this inconvenience and taking my business elsewhere.

I've been using mfp for almost a week now and comparing it to what Fitbit has they do end up the same calorie/macros but it takes FOREVER for Fitbit to catch up later in the day. Sometimes it can be as much as a couple of hours but Fitbit does catch up eventually when I use it with mfp. It does feel like a bust to resort to these measures especially since others managed to pinpoint the error a few days ago.

Yeah, this is nuts. I'm actually GAINING weight instead of losing at this
point and I'm over the BS of restarting and losing all my entries. Any time
you enter a custom food it totally f's up the app.
