Manual activities won't log steps, AZM and calories on Android

I've noticed in recent days that the Android app is no longer logging manually entered runs properly.  Manual Log > Activity > Run will log the run in Android app, but it doesn't convert the manually logged run to steps anymore.  Track Live > Start Exercise > Log Previous > Exercise Type = Run doesn't even save the activity in the app at all. I have found that web site still works. If you log it on the website it will convert to steps. I have tried uninstall/reinstall app. I have restarted my phone and also my Fitbit, which is a Charge 5. No of that made any difference. I would like it if the Android app worked for manually logging runs because that is easier to use on my phone than the website. FYI, I manually log treadmill runs and use the Fitbit for walking/running outside. Fitbit doesn't seem to track mileage well on treadmill.

Anyone having issues with trying to add an activity. I have tried several times and it is not saving the data! It seems like the takeover by Google is causing some serious issues!

I thought it was just me. My charge 5 has been shutting itself off randomly even when the battery isn't dead. I figured it was time for a new device

Everything on my Inspire 3 syncs except exercise days. Manually entering exercises also doesn't auto calculate calories burned when I save. I deleted and manually entered the exercises, restarted the device, unpaired and reconnected Bluetooth, etc. Any ideas on how to fix?

Yes, I posted a similar thread just now in this Android community. Please see what I wrote. Maybe it is a problem with the recent update of the app?

Hi, @PeaceLily welcome, you may be interested in this (very) old thread  Solved: Can I manually log steps? - Fitbit Community  There has always been a guard up on "Steps" as in the past they were at the core of many "Challenges" (sadly now no longer with us)

This is a more recent thread  Entering steps manually on the Fitbit app - Fitbit Community

I hope this helps.

Same.  I manually entered  my activity yesterday morning.  The activities were logged but it didn't add to any steps/miles.   I updated the app yesterday afternoon but that didn't seem to fix anything.  It's still the same way this morning.

Yes same here. Noticed it today since morning.

Welcome to the forums @Takeanap

Thank you for sharing the inquiry regarding the exercise days.

I'd suggest you follow these steps:

  • Log out of your Fitbit app
  • Make sure that your Fitbit app is updated (AndroidiOS)
  • Force quit the app
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app.

Manually entering a walk or run via the Android app has always converted the activities to steps until just very recently. I think there may be an issue with the Android app. It works correctly on the Fitbit web page.

Hi. I have done all of these steps already.

Hi, @PeaceLily may I suggest you delete & reload the Fitbit app again? This time use the following process Sync your Fitbit app, Go into the app settings on your phone>Fitbit>clear the cache>stop the app>delete the app>restart your phone>reload the Fitbit app & log on again.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

I regularly log "walk" activities in my fit bit Android App.  Typically I add duration/distance and the App calculates Zone Minutes, Steps and Energy Burned.   Since 11-Jun I can still log the activity in the App but it does NOT calculate Zone Minutes, Steps and Energy Burned.

Oddly 🙂 if I add the activity through fitbit.com it does calculate Zone Minutes, Steps and Energy Burned...

I have uninstalled the Android App, cleared the Android App Cache and obviously restarted my FitBit Charge 6.

Any ideas?  Thanks, Peter

Until yesterday, I was manually able to log a workout (i.e. a walk, run, pilates) and it was able to sync to the device and to the Fitbit app on my phone. I have a Versa 2.  Starting yesterday, and today (June 11 and 12, 2024), the activities will be entered but they no longer are added to my daily total in terms of steps, miles, or calories burned. Has this happened to anyone else?  Any recommendations?

I did this again, and it still isn't updated.

Manually entering event logs is done through the Fitbit app and independent of the tracker. You don't even need a tracker to do this.

Ok I have to try, and noticed that when manually entering a walk, Fitbit doesn't guesstimate the steps anymore. Just the calories.

Google/Fitbit has decided not to add steps that are manually added.

FYI: I have a Samsung Galaxy Phone, Android Version 14. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app

Hello @PeaceLily

I've seen several other users report this issue. I've notified the Fitbit team and will report back when I have a response.
