EdsonFitbit:

- Thanks for an official update,

- Thanks for putting this back in the "Android" forum

- Good to know when it gets fixed it will get posted in this thread.

- Not just an increase in Mobile Data, but a major increase in battery consumption...but I agree...both related.

Hey my name is Bethany and my Fitbit has capped all my data for the month. I will not get new data till the July 22nd 🙁 I am using Samsung S9+ Android 8.0.0 and my fitbit app is 2.73

I've used apkmirror to download the previous version of the fitbit app.. Surprise surprise, the issue has gone away.

I can't believe fitbit haven't got the capacity to revert to the previous version of the app whilst the root cause is investigated...

Good call. I just installed the previous version from APKMirror (thank goodness for them!) as well. Hopefully a fix will be out soon.

I am having exactly the same issues. Heavy data usage and my battery drains very quickly. My wife has the very same problems too. I own an Ionic and she has a Versa. We both itu Pixel XL phones

Do you mind sharing which version of the app did you get? Since the problem doesn't seem to be too old, I assume 2.72.1 should be fine.

Yeah, I downloaded the last version (which is 2.72.1), but I haven't had a chance to test it on mobile data. I'm not sure if that's the one @ToiletUser downloaded, who said that it resolved the issue, but I'm assuming so.

I've dowloaded it. In the meantime, I'll try to report if I see anything wrong with the older version.

For reference, I'm using a versa on a Nexus 6.

Massive issues for me as well - keeps overloading CPU, keep killing it in the background, but it's draining my battery massively . Data usage is usually less than 100mb for a month, already up to 523mb for just over half a month!!

  • Phone you're using - Samsung Galaxy S8
  • The Android OS your phone is running - 8.0.0
  • App version you are on - 2.7Screenshot_20180704-170354_Settings.jpg

Android 7.0

App version 2.73

I've noticed since looking in my app data that this problem has been happening on my device since April. Major battery usage and overheating seems to only be the last couple months.

I actually went back a couple of versions to be safe and I'm on 2.70

So far, so good. Phone not burning hot or sluggish anymore!

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app did it for me it seems. Fixed my battery and data issue.

It worked for me for a day, then it went back to high battery usage, hot phone and high data usage. Uninstalled again

Currently i too experienced this issue of battery draining too fast. Did not have this issue before updates. I need this to be solved asap. I cant always be charging my phone. S9+

I uninstalled and reinstalled (v. 2.73) last night and so far, having just completed a long bike ride, the App has used just 4% battery since I charged yesterday.

Similarly, my mobile data use is back to normal.

Hopefully cause for cautious optimism?

Update: Since posting earlier I have noticed that the Fitbit App has used up 63.51 Mb of mobile data in 3.5 hours, so looks like the reinstall has not fixed the mobile data issue after all.  It seems revoking permission for Fitbit to use mobile data in the background makes absolutely no difference!  Turning off mobile data remains the only sure fire way of stopping this App gobbling up mobile data.

It is doing it on iPhone too!

Hi all. I deleted the app and reinstalled it, then reboot the phone and it
seems to be doing much better in terms of battery life at least. I'm sure
it will slowly crawl back into the issue until they fix it via update but
so far the fix helped

I went back to 3.72.1 which solved my problem.

I just went back to the previous version. Hopefully, this will correct the issue for now. Not on unlimited data, so this sucks. Yesterday, the fitbit app used 4x the data than the entire monthly cycle of all the other apps combined. 90% of my time is spent on wifi. Noticed this morning, before I downgraded, that even though I'm on wifi, over 80 MB got used by the app over cellular despite being on wifi... something really wrong.

Phone: Google Nexus 5X

Android Verson: 8.1.0
