So after installing the beta version yesterday, I have experienced less of a battery drain. However there was some data usage..fitbit being the highest on the list at 90mb just for 1 day and for not doing much on the app.
I resorted to turning my bluetooth from 4pm since I didnt need notifications and wasnt exercising. That did conserve some battery.
Still curious about the data usage too.

So when can we expect a fix? You are killing my battery and data usage. I don't understand how this can happen? Who is going to give me a refund? Can I send my Versa to you and get my money back? I spent too much money to deal with this Not Happy at all! I can't even use it now

I can't believe a company like Fitbit can take so much time to fix this issue, it's insane. This can't take more than a day.
Do we know what information it is transferring and what is it using the battery for?

@EdsonFitbit Any ETA for a fix?? I just got charged $15 by AT&T for excessive data usage.

I noticed the problem start early last week. My Sony Experia XZ F831 running Android 8.0 started really chewing through the battery from fully charged to flat in a couple of hours. Phone also got hot. I was ready to throw the phone out and get a new phone and I saw this post. I uninstalled the fitbit app and my battery went back to normal. A day later I reinstalled the app and wham! battery draining really fast. I installed the app on my Lenovo Tab 4 8" which runs Android 7.1.1. All seems ok so far but this is a short term solution only. I need it on my phone. Also my phone has been running Android 8 for some time. I suspect the culprit is a recent update to the fitbit app. Hope that helps somehow.

Love to know whether this android usage thing is also affecting the sync feature?? I have tried everything in the book and nothing since yesterday at 11:18am Michigan. Thanks super frustrating. Had a great 17,439 step day and now can't see my stats😞😞

This seems to help - I have attached external battery, a cold pack, and Pringles can to my phone. I will duct tape it together to my head to solve the bluetooth headphone problem.

The same problem here.
My galaxy s8 would normally drop 4-5% overnight. Right now it's dropping 20+% and Fitbit app is the main battery killer. Everything was working fine until the last app update.

I picture someone at Fitbit saying "F**k! We shouldn't have fired the Pebble team! WHAT DO WE DO NOW?!"
Honestly, it's been more than a week and this is completely unacceptable.
"First of all, thank you for the report. Our Engineering team is crying and blaming one another. We're consulting all the Gods from the major religions all over the world to try to fix our problem. Probably Jesus Christ himself will come down and tell us WTF we did wrong on the 2nd of July. And then we'll crucifix him again like we did with the Pebble team. STAY TUNED GUZ Xxx!"

I dunno how it's related but after deleting the Fitbit app to workaround my battery drain in my phone due to this issue.. I now have battery drain on my versa. It was 100% charged this morning and now 12 hours later it's down to 30%!! No I haven't got any other apps installed and no I'm not even using a different watch face. I changed it back to Layers.
C'mon guys... What the hell. I expect this from Garmin but not Fitbit too.

The only fix I found is to uninstall fitbit app from my Pixel 2 and install it on iPad. Obviously now I don't receive notifications but at least I can sync with dashboard and not ruin my phone's battery 😉

The workaround I'm using is to uninstall the current version and re-install the previous version. This removes the mobile data and battery usage issue whilst providing me with the normal functionality.

How do you do that?
@EdsonFitbit
Now my Alta HR will NOT sync with the app. And my battery drain is massive. I can sync with my dongle for the computer. But this is unaccaptable. I am in challenges and this is a problem. I also track my 250 an hour from 8-4. Can't do this at work because I can't plug in my dongle on a work computer. This is getting rediculous. I have restarted my Alta. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my app. I have restarted my phone. None of the above is working.
Can anyone tell me how to go back to a previous version so I can keep up with my challenges and my 250 an hour??
