@Marc_PL I agree. I'm no expert but I believe that the two issues can't be solved simultaneously. I wil try the install you did.
If Fitbit wants consumers to be faithful, then they need to stand by the products.
If not, then we will all consider this a planned obsolescence:
Planned obsolescence is a purposefully implemented strategy that ensures the current version of a given product will become out-of-date or useless within a known time period. This guarantees that consumers will demand replacements in the future, thus naturally supporting demand. In some instances, this can even motivate multiple sales of the same object to the same consumer. Obsolescence can be achieved through introduction of a superior replacement or a product design meant to cease proper function within a specific window, or by cultivating desirability of new versions over older ones."
Do what's right, Fitbit, and we wont believe it was planned and will stay with you!

Could this issue be the reason why my phone, pixel XL, won't sync to my Fitbit? The last sync was june 16. If not, I need help with this issue. Thank you.

@EdsonFitbit Unfortunately I'm on the beta version 2.74.1 and the app used another 100+ MB of data in less than 24 hours and that's with background data turned off. There is no 'Send Log' in the help menu, but there is a 'Generate Bug Report'. Sadly the share button isn't working so I'm unable to send an email with the json attached. Can you update your instructions for sharing feedback? It's also unclear what you mean by sync options and why that's relevant to this issue

Same here Samsung S7 edge Fitbit ionic. 17% CPU.

Finally had to remove the app entirely.
Too much data usage. We pay for every byte.
When can we expect something to be done?
Without the app, we're not getting any notifications.

I'm on an S8 with an Ionic and having the same problem. I don't know if I'm happy that I'm not alone, or sad. Hope this is resolved at the same time the high data utilization gets fixed.

@acuatico69 No, v.2.74.1 is the Beta version.
I have been running the Beta version for 2 days now and I am sorry to report that it seems to have made little difference to the high mobile data usage.
Today, so far, the Fitbit App has used 70 Mb of data since 09.00 - 90% of which is upload! Now what the heck is this App uploading and where is it going? Needless to say I have switched mobile data off and revoked most permissions (which will probably make no difference to the App). Perhaps Fitbit executives might care to be mindful of the s**tstorm caused by the illegal and misappropriated use of Facebook users' data by Cambridge Analytica and others.
Battery drain is starting to climb up again after a reasonable day yesterday, with 21% battery usage by the Fitbit App as of 18.00. My phone has been overheating again and many of my Apps and phone's features have been sluggish on and off today.
I have also started experiencing an intermittent issue with syncing which is usually quite reliable and 3 hours worth of activity data is mysteriously missing from my daily stats.

I have an LG G6 and ever since I switched from the Charge to the Versa a few weeks ago my phone battery drains like crazy. I checked the battery usage and Fitbit app is using 28-30% of the phone's battery! I turned off the sync, etc. but am hoping a fix will happen soon because this is nuts!

Do we have an established timeline for what we think this is she was going to be resolved? This is forcing me to keep my phone on the charger all day long pretty much. I'm just bought my Fitbit ionic 3 days ago, and it has tanked my cell phone.

Is there any estimation on when this might be resolved? bought my fitbit about 4 days ago and it''ve made my phone more or less unusable. a 1h walk will drain more then 60% of the battery.

FYI: as a temporary fix, I'm using the Google Datally app. It limits mobile data use per individual app.
Not a solution, but seems to help.

My Galaxy S9 Plus was dead this morning and my Ionic used 56% of the battery on standby. These Ionic should be recalled due to all these glitches. Garmin for me next time.
