Why did Fitbit move this thread from Android to the Ionic forum?  This is affecting Versa as well.

Hopefully Eric (moderator) response above isn't an official Fitbit corporate stance on the issue.    This should be a top priority identified issue at this point....not "have you tried uninstalling/installing".

I'm glad I found this thread. This issue has been driving me crazy.

Samsung Galaxy S7 android 7.0

Phone sluggish and hot, also seeing the fitbit app using about half a gig of data in about 4 days.

How on earth did this issue get passed QC?

It's not as though all these Samsungs are rare obscure phones!

Forgot to mention that my battery is going down about 1 percent every 5 minutes...

This sucks!!!!!!!!!

Motorola Z2 Force

Android 8.0.0

Ionic

Not sure what version of the app because I just uninstalled trying to save what little battery I have left for the day.

Same issue here.

My wife and I have the same phones, same fitbit (versa), same data usage issue.

Phone: Pixel (first gen)

OS: Android 8.1.0

Fitbit app: 2.73

Mobile data used so far: 220 MB

Wi-Fi data used so far: 1.54 GB

We use Project Fi for our carrier, so we have to pay for every byte used.

This is not acceptable.

When can we expect this to be addressed?

It's costing your users a lot of money.

Recently the Fitbit app has started using massive amounts of data, both Wi-Fi and Mobile.

My wife and I have the same phones, same fitbit (versa), same data usage issue.

I see this is also happening with Ionic users and wanted to start a Versa specific topic

Here's our config:

Phone: Pixel (first gen)

OS: Android 8.1.0

Fitbit app: 2.73

Mobile data used so far: 220 MB

Wi-Fi data used so far: 1.54 GB

We use Project Fi for our carrier, so we have to pay for every byte used.

@JoeActor I have combined your posts as this is the same issue. Creating another thread for the same issue will only confuse users and Fitbit is updating this thread. Please follow for updates in this thread. Thank you.

This is now unusable. I'm stuck in a loop of these two messages, even after multiple reboots.

Same issue here.

As of version 2.73 I encounter a huge data usage.

Phone: Google Nexus 6

Android version: 7.1.1

Will be a nice bill of my mobile provider for this month... 😞

Let's hope that an update will be soon available.

This isn't an ionic specific issue. Why was the thread moved here out of the Android channel?

A fix for this must be Fitbit's #1 priority. People have financial losses and there is potential for bad PR and NPI.

I have the same problem on my LG G6, my phone is warm and the battery drains fast, now I have to charge my phone 3-4 times during the day.

This evening I uninstalled the Fitbit app and now I'm back to normal. Why can't you just rollback this update until you have fixed this problem?? Apparently this update is bugging many Fitbit owners...

Having exactly the same issue (galaxy s8), had to uninstall the app. Anyone heard anything about a fix? Or know exactly what the problem is?

So far so good, I uninstalled the app, found the apk for 2.7.2 and installed it, unclicked autoupdate on playstore, and it's running good, no more battery drain.ill stay with 2.7.2 until they fix this nightmare

I've used apkmirror to download the previous version of the fitbit app.. Surprise surprise, the issue has gone away.

I can't believe fitbit haven't got the capacity to revert to the previous version of the app whilst the root cause is investigated...

Having this problem in the last 3 days or so.

Google Pixel (2016)

Android 8.1.0

App Version 2.73 (Updated 6/11/18)

I'll uninstall the app and see if that works as a short term fix. The app used over 480 MB of cellular data last billing cycle (ended today), and consistently is using 3-4x more battery than my next most used apps. Thanks.

Do you have a link for 2.7.2? I've never gone back to a previous version of an app.

Am I looking for 2.7.2 or 2.72???

I put 2.7.2 on and it's old. No tiles or anything? Is that the one I want?

Glad to hear this is being looked into. I started noticing it after the Android P DP4 update this week. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it seemed to fix the problem...until I tuned notifications back on and the the high data and battery usage came back.
